Idea for 11 year old girl

I am looking for ideas for 11yo dd for Christmas and bday. She’ll be in year 6 so not yet subject to secondary influences.

Best gifts last year were a bean bag and an ipod. She has headphones. She also loved her mannequin for doing fashion designs but she has sewing kit and use of my sewing machine.

I don’t really want to get clothes - I see these as separate to main gifts.

She hates board games.

She loves Art’s and crafts but I have run out of ideas of things to get that fall into this category. I really want her to have some things to open though as her brothers will still be getting toys.

Help...

Metal detector? My DD has loved hers since the age of 10.

An Alexa or other smart speaker?
A sprocket? DD enjoyed this much more than a Polaroid camera because she could choose which photos to print from phone/tablet etc. Although check it's compatible with the iPod.

Something like a Polaroid or instax camera that she can use to make photo art?

My DD going into Y6 wishlist:

  • air drying clay
  • new cookery book and apron and her own recipe file to gather together favourite recipes
  • some cute cooking accessories and a kit for cake decorating
  • Hype bag and lunchbox
  • cute key ring for her new set of keys (just starting to walk home from school and let herself in to the house)
  • larger bike helmet as she outgrew hers
  • more grown up lamp and cushions for her room
  • set of marbled cardboard drawers for her stationary
  • mini zebra print umbrella for her school bag (stocking filler)
  • books
  • high quality art paper for her water colour pencil drawings

I'm also thinking about getting her a few posters for her room.

At least she's no longer asking for Robux, the Roblox phase is over thank God.

This might/ will upset some people, but my crafty children have their own carving kits (good little knives etc) and pyrography sets. You can get some brilliant design ideas and how to guides on making little carved faces. Obviously lots of safety rules, supervision, good protective gloves and a leather apron, but if she's sensible she'll be fine with them. She could have her own tool set which she can learn to take care of.

My daughter is 11 and her wish list has mainly been new watercolour set, lots of paper and spiral bound sketch books and lots of novels.

Something active maybe, bike, scooter, roller blades, skateboard?

I think 11 is a tough age to buy for.

Between birthday and Christmas last year DD 11 got

Phone
Hairdryer
Trainers
Good quality sketching & colouring pencils plus drawing pads
Baking/cake decorating stuff
Lots of books
Fimo
Bath bombs
A onesie (ok strictly speaking that’s clothes but she loves a cosy onesie Smile)
A huge sleeping cat cushion (other animals are available I’m sure)
Charm bracelet
A planner with lots of stickers/inserts. Works as a planner/journal/scrapbook for the arty crafty type.

  • Kawaii drawing books this sort of thing You can often pick them up reduced on Amazon or in the Works
  • LED light pad (for tracing)
  • My DD (same age) likes fake plants and things like macrame wall hangings for her room
  • Harry Potter clothing, bonus if it’s for ‘her’ house (Hufflepuff apparently). Primark have heat colour change mugs that will reveal her house if she’s undecided - or open them and warm with your fingers if you want to get a specific house colour
  • Oodie
  • Super-soft blanket
  • American sweets
TheSockMonster · 04/08/2021 13:33
  • Japanese snacks - particularly the DIY ones like here

2nd metal detector, we got one of our DDs one last year and the other a microscope, they loved finding things and examining them under the microscope.

These are great ideas thank you!

She’d love a light box for tracing I think. Also pyrography a great idea I think she would love that. Her idea of heaven is anything using the glue gun.

She has one of those big cat cushions and loves it!

Great stocking filler and grandparent gift ideas too!
