Just got an email about panto and I can't decide I should book. I'm my head I know it's a dumb cow move but my heart wants to scream 'it's behind you' at mr tumble.
Has anyone else booked?

It's a risk of course...can you afford to lose the money? If so, book away. Just don't tell the kids...saying that, the theatre would reimburse you anyway wouldn't they? A show I was going to see got cancelled here in Oz and we were offered our money back or to wait till next show and see them again...we chose to wait.

I’ve booked Lapland U.K. - hoping if it’s cancelled we’ll be either rebooked or refunded.

Youvegotafriendinme · 30/07/2021 04:28

I’ve booked 3 big Christmas things so far and have paid the small insurance amount that means I’ll get my money back if they get cancelled because of covid. I wouldn’t have booked them if this wasn’t an option. After last year, I want to do as much as I can afford to do but safely (money wise)

Mumdiva99 · 30/07/2021 06:42

I've got last year's panto booking already lined up as they just changed the year.

SirSamuelVimes · 30/07/2021 06:53

I booked a horrifyingly expensive Christmas show & Santa experience thing last night. Paid the extra £5 cancellation insurance which I never usually do.

I'm hopeful that stuff will go ahead this year and this place is almost fully booked already so I'm taking my chances.

MissyB1 · 30/07/2021 07:00

Yes I’m going to.

Wankerchief · 30/07/2021 09:27

I think I’m going to go for it, it feels stupid but we had such a shitty Christmas last year I’m going to try optimism

I booked a visit to a reindeer farm for their Christmas show and light trail. Figured if it's cancelled they will refund money so may as well go for it. Kids missed out last year and at nearly 7 I doubt there will be many years left where my dd believes so want to make the most of it.

Sisisimone · 30/07/2021 09:46

Yes am booking as normal. I was lucky enough to be in an area of the UK that had low rates last Xmas so we pretty much did everything that we would normally do. Now most of us are vaccinated I can't see there being cancellations this year

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/07/2021 09:49

Last year DH and I booked a coach trip to a Designer Outlet /Christmas Market , included travel, hotel Breakfast/Evening Meal.
It was (of course) cancelled ,

I'm looking for similar this year with the hope it'll work out .

Mrsfussypants1 · 30/07/2021 10:15

Booked Disney on ice for December, I also paid £9 ish on insurance for the 3 tickets which cover anyone being unable to attend due to getting covid. I'm toying with booking panto too. Things in my area seem to be booking up quickly, I didn't want to leave it any longer.

Sisisimone · 30/07/2021 13:37

I can't believe how early things are on sale this year and how quickly they're getting booked up!!

SirSamuelVimes · 30/07/2021 18:49

Agreed about booking up. The weekend dates for the Santa thing I booked had already gone as of yesterday. We are booked on for a Monday evening, and even that was low availability!

CarolinaWeeper · 30/07/2021 22:18

Christmas events are selling out like crazy round here. Tickets for a local garden centre that do a lovely grotto meet Father Christmas experience are already sold out for weekends in December ans they only just went on sale. I suppose after last year people want something to look forward to.

mam0918 · 31/07/2021 10:38

What I want to book usually books up instantly (so I have never managed to get tickets in the last 13 years) but theres been no mention of it this year - it bothers me as we never know when the tickets go on sale so I just keep randomly checking.

Everything else I'll look into later... we always find some things to do and usually dont book until december, worst comes to the worst the local shopping center has a free santa the kids can go see (but its like a 2 hour line to see him).

Last year we left it until last minute to book things and there was still plenty even with the state of the world - we did a drive through christmas land thing at a deer park and we had a meal with santa booked but it was cancelled as they put us in local lockdown.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 31/07/2021 11:13

Thankfully ours are older so we would just normally have a nice meal out close to the time. We didn’t bother last year and spent the extra on getting nice food and treats for home and will likely do the same this year. I can’t imagine wanting to be at a busy indoor place in December with cases numbers as high as they are currently.

imamule · 31/07/2021 11:20

I booked lapland uk last yr, a panto & a Santa tea. All got cancelled, I'm not bothering this year as the disappointment pissed me off as I was really looking forward to stuff. Didn't tell the dc so they were non the wiser.

imamule · 31/07/2021 11:20

I was refunded fully for everything

imamule · 31/07/2021 11:21

I still have a family holiday from May 2020 that has been moved about 4 times 😆

BakewellGin1 · 31/07/2021 11:24

I have booked a panto, an enchanted forest light show and meal at Beamish Hall and bowling so far... Bowling and Panto were both moved from last year.

MrsBellamy · 31/07/2021 16:13

I have booked a trip to London for a few days between Christmas and NY, we're also booked into Harry Potter studio tour and plan to book Hyde park winter wonderland. This will be part of the kids Christmas presents.
I can't wait and desperately hoping it doesn't get cancelled.

Deereamer · 01/08/2021 09:48

I’ve had the panto booked since January. If anything else comes up that we fancy going to I’ll book that as well. If none of it comes off, we will come up with alternatives to do at home. I’m an optimist. I think we will be ok for Christmas this year.

SemiFeralDalek · 01/08/2021 13:08

@Sisisimone

I can't believe how early things are on sale this year and how quickly they're getting booked up!!
I booked our Christmas light show in April Grin (and that was late, there were only the very early dates tickets left!

It's the same most years, I think more people are just more aware this year, plus potentially less available if places are still planning on social distancing and limiting numbers etc.

I've booked two outdoor things so far. I can't wait!
