I am so sorry gigglewiggle but the word 'fella' really rubs me up the wrong way.....

I know I am an old and judgemental cow, but there you go!

As for present ideas, no, I have no idea what I am buying my dh for Christmas.

A couple of years ago I got dh an old-fashioned shaving set. He likes his razor, so I didn't get him a new one (a bit too much of a personal choice, anyway), but I got him a shaving soap in a wooden soap box, and a good quality badger brush. Total about £45, but good VFM long term as one soap block lasts about a year with daily shaving, so evenutally cheaper than foams etc. Smells gorgeous too. He thought it a weird idea, but soon loved it and now finds shaving pleasurable instead of a painful chore. Apparently the brushing is very pleasant and makes the bristles easier to shave.

I'm buying my DP a Phillips home cinema surround sound system - got it from Amazon for £150 but they start at around £90 on there

A dry suit, but he needs to be there to try it on, so we're getting it after Christmas. I've got him the Fawlty Towers dvd set so he has something to open.

PrettyCandles · 26/11/2007 11:12

John Lewis

From this range though they only list one on site, they had about 5 in the shop. And this soap and a stand for the brush, which doesn't appear on the website at all.

mosschops30 · 26/11/2007 11:14

me and dh have taken to buying our own presents and then paying each other. This at least means we get what we want. Ive bought a handbag and touche eclat and dh has bought a jumper.
We're too old for suprises that for the dc's we just want what we want so easier to buy IYSWIM

Slouchy · 26/11/2007 11:15

Well it was DH's birthday yesterday so I have this problem every year times 2! And he went and bought himself a watch when I had just bought him a watch as a surprise and he bought himself a sat nav!

For his birthday yesterday he got a new wheelie bag - his other one broke and he travels a lot on business. Also a bottle of Calvados which he loves and I ordered the Saturday Telegraph which gets delivered on a Sunday so like having the Sunday papers (we are in Budapest). DS got him the new Frederick Forsyth book and some wine gums.

For Xmas I have ordered the Ewan McGregor/Charley Boorman DVD of their bike trip and the new Michael Palin DVD set and a book about England in the Rugby World Cup and also the Richard Hammond (cos I want to read it!).

Bought DH a shaving brush and creme from Virgin Vie a few years ago - he has to shave every day or looks like a caveman and he loves it. He agrees that the brush raises the bristles and makes it easier to get a clean shave. I replace the brush every other year as they last really well (with looking after) and he goes through about 2 bottles of the creme a year. It's the Men-U range which you can also buy in Boots now.
