i have a difficult relationship with my inl's so although it is kind of them to ask what i would like, my mind really goes blank.
Please help.

Why dont you ask for voucher? You can get what you want and if you dont want to see your in laws they can post it with your christmas card.

When I am faced with this, I ask for a magazine subscription.
It's easy and not that costly

I wouldn't ask for a voucher though if I had a difficult relationship with them! You get in to "how much is she/am I worth?" territory......

Suggest a couple of authors you like and ask for a recent book? Or ditto CD. DH says that AFA he's concerned, someone could go into a music shop, shut their eyes and grab a CD at random and he'd still appreciate it.

I think a voucher is not a bad idea but say where from and what you might spend it on - e.g. why not a Debenhams voucher and I can enjoy choosing some make-up. Then it's a bit more personal.

I have made myself a list due to suffering from blanking-out phenomenon. Personally I would like a couple of standard rose bushes but who is going to get me those?

Thanks for all your messages, i think i'll go for the book option.
