I've got her some jelly babies but have seen a nice glass vase and thought I could stick something in it, but what?

can you put the jelly babies in it and other sweeties ?

Nbg · 25/11/2007 12:58

Was thinking that but they might go a bit funny, might they?

We probably wont see her till a few days before xmas.

if they sat around uncovered they might get a bit sticky, so perhaps some wrapped sweets instead ? eat the jelly babies yourself ! Things with jolly wrappers like Roses or Quality Street would look festive

this concept is beyond me, am I missing something fundamental?
you want to put sweeties in a fancy jar for an old girl?

is that wise?

will she be able to get them out unaided?

is it as an ornament or some kind of sophisticated reward system?

Nbg · 25/11/2007 13:05

lol

its a bit hard to buy for an 85 year old. My only thoughts is that she always has frsh cut flowers and vases everywhere so another wont hurt.

I was thinking of putting some little lights in but I think that concept will go straight over her head.

MaryAnnSingleBeaker · 25/11/2007 13:06

MaryAnnSingleBeaker · 25/11/2007 13:07

john lewis have nice fake flowers as do sainsbury's

failing that maybe a goldfish

ClaphamLauren · 25/11/2007 13:37

What about those glass pebble things and some bamboo or similar?

Nbg · 25/11/2007 13:52

I love the goldfish idea but not sure how she'd take it.

I've been really boring and bought a square glass vase from wilkos and a bag of lavender pot pourri

old ladies of my acquaintance absolutely LOVE an amaryllis to care for. or mary-alices as they so wittily re-name them... hem hem.

MaryAnnSingleBeaker · 25/11/2007 14:58

do they call them that ? mary alices ?

Aitch · 25/11/2007 15:28

ooooh yes, it's a laugh-a-minute.

expatinscotland · 25/11/2007 15:29
