So he doesn't need basics like all the classic toys, or clothes.

His mum just said "something he can call his own", so I'm thinking a toy, but as I haven't seen their current stash I'm a bit wary of duplicating.

Small budget (a tenner or so).

You can get CDs with lullabys which have been personalised with the baby' name. That would be quite individual. Cant remember where i saw them, but you could try google.

That's a nice idea, thank you, will google.

Any other suggestions?

A lovely new book - there are great board books coming out all the time and a well loved one might get trashed by the time it's handing on time. E.g. the "busy" series by Rebecca Finn.

If still at the crawling stage then a ball for chasing aound the floor?

A board book is always good.

Or how about www.baby-toys.co.uk/whoozit_baby_photo_album_detail.jpg this]] a whoozit baby photo album?

Love the photo book idea - and I think that or some sort of book is the way to go as the best ones do always get trashed. Thanks all.
