What do you think about a black christmas tree instead of a green one?

Perhaps a slim one, with purple/silver decorations.

sort of like this

I am in 2 minds. Part of me likes it, part of me thinks it looks weird.

So I have decided to let you choose.

Vote green, vote black, vote DGAF (Don't Give a Feck) and I'll go with the majority.

If the majority is DGAF I'll forget the tree, stick tinsel on my dh and stand him in the corner till new year!

Black if you have very modern decor.
Green if you haven't.

I've had my black tree for 3 years this year- was a bugger to find then but very commonplace now. I decorate it with black baubles which were also a bugger to find. Don't think I will use it this year, too prevalent now. Might go for white with white baubles.

Ooooh, purple snow - that'd be great

MerryAnnSinglemas · 24/11/2007 14:23

black tree - bit sinister and as if you're trying too hard to be trendy !

Black - had planned to buy one, and chosen it (but trying to do non-consumer xmas, so am resisting so far)

I love my pink one with white/clear decs

Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, of all the trees most lovely

Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, of all the trees most lovely

Each year you bring to me delight, meaning in the christmas night

Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, of all the trees most lovely

Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, with faithful leaves unchanging

Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, with faithful leaves unchanging

Your boughs are GREEN, in sommers glow and do not fade in winters snow

Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, with faithful leaves unchanging

Each year you bring to me delight, meaning in the christmas night

Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree, of all the trees most lovely

It's a green vote from me.

It would look good if you have very trendy decor but in an everyday house it would just look out of place

LazyLinePainterJane · 24/11/2007 16:28

green

Hekate · 24/11/2007 16:43

Thanks folks! I will go with green.

I keep looking at the pretty black ones in the pictures, but the comment about christmas trees being for kids reminded me how much my boys love to do the tree (you can imagine how it looks! ) and I have realised that means more to me than anything else.

So green tree it is with a tonne of tinsel and totally uncoordinated bits all over it.

And tinsel round everything.

And things hanging from the ceiling.

Last year the kids stuck those little pressie wrapping bows (iykwim) all over the walls.

Kids are weird.

NOT getting a real one though. I did it once about 5 years ago and I am still picking bits up.

OK. OK. I'm lying because we've moved twice since then. But it was awful.

I have just bought a 3ft Black tree and 50 silver decorations (totaling £10 in woolies)

For me it was either gonna be :-
chocolate browns/golds on green or brown tree (as seen in argos)
Black and silver or
White tree with pink/lilac

I have always stuck with traditional 6ft green tree with reds/golds decorations and when moved the whole lot got broke so had toreplace but with funds being at all time low with baby due I decided to let my DD's pick (and surprisingly they chose the black)
but they know it'll probably be a one time thing this year

Buda · 25/11/2007 07:20

I saw black for the first time last year and thought it would be lovely as just a little "extra" tree with hot pink and silver. Not very Xmassy I know but a bit fun.

We have green with traditional red, green and gold decs in the main.

Hate them

and wouldnt have one of those stupid fake upside down trees either

(not that an upside down tree could be anything other than fake )

yomellamoHelly · 25/11/2007 09:46

I like them, but I think I'd be bored of it after a couple of years, so I'd go for green.
