this! for Christmas.

He saw it in the Smyths catalogue and wrote and second letter to Santa with a list of things (!) he wanted and I thought he had forgotten. But no. Have just been down in the playroom with him clearing out some toys to give to charity and I mentioned his little kitchen. "No" he says "When I get my big kitchen, that one can be the bar". !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh.

Father Xmas has done all his shopping in this house and I would not get it anyway (although would have loved it when I was 6!).

He is already not getting the electric guitar he wants!

But he is getting lots of other fab stuff including a Wii!

Erm does he play or have any music ability? If not be very very scared- and then buy one without a functioning speaker system for the sake of your sanity!

piximon · 21/11/2007 20:06

I'd prob have gone for the guitar, Asda are doing one with the amp for around £40. But it sounds like your DS has loads already so I'm sure he'll be really happy.

Having said that, what about a guitar based game for the Wii? Maybe that could work, as you/DH could use it even if your DS doesn't. Not sure what age/music is available tho.

I like the idea of Santa not being able to carry too much on his sleigh. I think next year I will use that as I too prefer not to give him all the present glory lol.

Really - have a look on ebay for a half sized guitar and an amp. Remember a mike as well - he will have so much fun, I promise. My two were 3 and 8 when they got theirs as a shared present - they are now 6 and 11 and use it all the time. It's also a favourite when friends come to play. Best 40 quid I ever spent!

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 21/11/2007 20:17

D5

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 21/11/2007 20:18

not D4.

Hold that thought and all will be well.

Buda · 21/11/2007 20:40

??

Does FC not bring guitars to D5 - worked for U2!!!

I meant the feeling you had to get him everything.

BTW can only comment on Larry Mullen and he played the drums.

You could hear them half way up Rosemount Avenue at the best of times and if the wind was in the right direction halfway across the church grounds as well.

Buda · 21/11/2007 20:46

Lol!

I know I shouldn't feel I have to get him everything but there are 2 things he really wants and he is not getting either of them!

I think I will hang on to the Wii till either birthday or next year and get the guitar.

Will just tell DH it is all MN's fault!

seeker - am afraid of Ebay!

Actually thinking of U2 has made me think I will DEF get him the guitar. Bono wanted a piano and his Dad refused. Money wasn't the issue. Apparently (according to my mother!!) Bono never forgave his dad for that.

Can't have that happening!

But don't deprive yourselves of the Wii - give it to each other and have fun!

GrapefruitMoon · 21/11/2007 20:55

Are you going to ireland for Christmas Buda? (When did you stop being a babe btw? ) If you are could you not say that he can only ask for presents that you can actually get on the plane?

I have to say I went a bit mad the first Christmas we didn't go to Ireland and bought mine all the big things they'd had to do without before that...

Buda · 21/11/2007 20:59

Hmmm seeker - am liking your style!

GrapefruitMoon - lost my "babe" when I realised my aspirations to be one were a bit much and I am far too old!!!

We are going to Ireland - all the small presents are already there and we usually leave anything big here - DS is now used to having something here when we get home. Were planning on leaving the Wii here.

those Symths catalogues are worse than the Argos one - ds1 saw a cleaning trolley last year in Smyths and of course I couldn't get one the same anywhere in the UK....

Buda · 21/11/2007 21:40

I know - and it was me that brought it into the house!

Had to laugh though at DS and he 3 yr old cousin fighting over it and then DS did his addendum to his first letter and cousin demanded a pen and paper too and when asked what his drawing was, said "elephant". "Is that what you want Santa to bring?" "Yes" he said "a real one to live in the garden"!

Ds2 takes the Woolworths Big Red Book to bed with him... the Argos one is hidden in case they start adding to the list!
