SHOULD I PUT LIGHTS ON MY CHRISTMAS TREE????

Can you help me. So many people have advised me to not put lights on our Christmas tree this year as they will be dangerous. I have a one year old and he is likely to want to touch lots. We was going to get a fibroptiv tree instead as he will love the changing colours and then do not have to decorate.
Plus its low voltage. Any ideas as to whether this is the right hing to do or not?????? Thanks

Never had a problem with any of my 4 touching the tree.
But fibre optic is fine if thats what you would prefer to go with.

We haven't had any trouble with the lights and lo's. Have never bothered to put a guard or pen around the tree.

If you tell them not to touch, then that should be enough.

We put the lights on the tree most of the day and turn the lights off at bed time.

We don't put the tree in the lounge area but away in the dining room so perhaps that it why the children have never had a problem with the lights.

DD was a toucher last year so we had a fibre optic one, think we may be safe this year but not sure yet.

Have no dc's yet so can't advise on the lights aspect, however 22 month old nephew loved our fibre optic tree last year. His mum ended up borrowing it as it proved to be one of the best ways of distracting him from whateve he was attempting to destroy at that point in time.

Had lights and glass balls on my tree every year since the dcs were born. They are not allowed to touch and has never really been a problem.

tissy · 19/11/2007 13:22

We never had a problem with dd pulling lights off.

If it worries you, get a small tree and put it on a chest of drawers/ high unit so she can't reach it.

ours have never been too hot to touch. nor has there been an issue (yet) of touching. they are only on when we switch teh lights on at night/early evening anyway
