Polly Pocket stuff is quite reasonable, and you get loads of bits for your money so it seems more lol. We're getting 4 1/2 year old dd the race to the mall toy, which is basically a car ramp hotwheels thingy, cost about £20 I think.

hercules1 · 21/11/2007 10:55

Thankyou. I had looked at polly pocket things as wanted to get a dolls house type thing.

the great thing about little girl in my experience is that they love lots of little bits of things like:

glittery bobbles and hairbands
flashy pens and pencils with feathers and furry bits on the ends
beading sets
dress up jewellry
nice smelling fancy soaps
nice ornaments such as snowglobes/trinket box/money bank
Russian doll set

etc

my DTs are 4 just 10 days before christmas, so I may have a couple of ideas, with the double double presents whammy! For birthday we have got them a flikflak watch each, about £18 from john lewis, machine washable, little crystals round the edge - they are both interested in starting to tell the time, and some playmobil, then for christmas books (michael morpugo, lauren child) clothes (that they need anyway!) little bits and pieces like beads, fun toys (bendy snake, playng cards, choc mouse) and my parents have got them fairy dresses, PILs are getting doll accessories. We haven't spent more than about £75 each of them for christmas/birthday combined tbh

LedodgyDickinson · 21/11/2007 11:38

have you seen this dolls house in toys r us? they are out of stock at the moment but keep checking because they get stock in regularly I got this for dd last Christmas and she loves it.

iheartdusty · 21/11/2007 12:28

my 2 are getting this to share from Father Christmas:

toy theatre-converts-to-shop

plus DS (3) will have a CD player and DD (6) will have a camera

Is she at school? GET A WHITEBOARD FOR £11from Homebase - just like teacher uses!! Dry wipe pens from tesco for about 80p.. That's all she'll need as she'll spend all day being Mrs Whoever (her teacher)!! Home Bargains have loads of Polly Pocket sets for £6 just now - for sale elsewhere at £13! Wilkos are great for crafty type things as is that cheap book shop place - get loads for dd (4) there. Pond shops do loads of hair accessories too.
Tesco version of Hama beads is about £5 and they do loads of cheap art crafty things. Look out for the end of ailse stuff too - I got loads of bead sets - 2 for £1 and mini My little Pony sets again 2 for £1 last year.

The cheapo sports shops (eg Sport Soccer) do scooters for about £10 and cheap roller skates.

LIZS · 21/11/2007 15:40

Playmobil carry along dolls house under £20 in The Entertainer/TheToyShop.com or full sized Grand Mansion £49.99 on Mailorderexpress.com but you'd also need to furnish it.

Carameli · 21/11/2007 16:51

dd also 4 needed a new bike so that was our main pressie sorted.
I she into the Night Garden. I have got a gorgeous red fleece from ikea for just £2.50 and am going to get some blue ribbon to go around it as she loves to snuggle while watching the bedtime hour(and I refuse to pay £20 for the official one in the shops which is so much smaller)

I would 2nd the idea about a whiteboard. Dd has one on her painting easel and loves it to bits. I currently teaching ds(1yr) how to say his letters(not that he pays any attention, but makes her feel good

have you looked at red house or book people for some great bargains in books. They are usually pretty good.

Also love the idea of the Russian Dolls. I ahve a huge set I brought back from Russia years ago and dd loves it to bits when I let her at it. She has fun for ages and ages just taking them all apart and putting them back together again.

might be worth looking at ebay?
