I have to say that I don't approve of the choc ones, though if ds is given one by a kindly friend, then of course he has it.I prefer traditional.

traditional for me!

Traditional here too.

there are some really lovely ones around too !
And do you have a crib /nativity scene ?

No crib. And to come clean, I don't actually have kids yet, am reminicsing (sp?), we were never allowed the chocolate one. And I'm not in the least Christian either, but I think the trad ones are really pretty!

I used to make a crib out of a shoebox which had to sit on the television with my bike lamp behind a tissue paper sky and lots of cotton wool round the edges. I had some plastic figures to go in it along with some of my guinea pigs straw - how I loved doing that !

NOw that I like!

Trad all the way

Fussy beyond that even: it has to be a nice scene (no horrid cartoony drawing and totally no branding ugh ugh ugh - eg a Barbie calendar [teenager crossed fingers warding off devil emoticon]) and not too religious (eg one which when you open the window has Biblical Texts is just a bit over-holy for me); and it's nice if the pictures are integral to the scene - ie you open actual windows. And if it's 3D or similarly interesting graphically.

The amazing thing is that I always find something I'm happy with - this year's is a German street scene, satisfying all of the above fussiness.

traditional - I love advent calendars!

MerryAnnSinglemas · 13/11/2007 19:55

yes agree Bink - I've seen a nice German street scene too - might get that
