I want to make sure I get one, does anyone remember when they started last year or know when they're starting this year?

Tescos emailed me last year a few days before the slots were available, was end of November and slots could be booked at start of December - booked my slot for xmas eve with just some bread and bits and then just added to the order throughout December. Will definately do the same this year. And I will remember to add a bottle of something for the driver as we get him most deliveries - forgot last year oops

I was thinking of doing an online close to christmas shop but was thinking that i'd get a lot of substitutions I just thought that as the shopps are busy they are bound to run out of what I want so would rather go to the shop, as much of a PITA as that will be.

Can anyone advise whether they found they got lots of subsitutions last year? First year doing my own dinner and have only online shopped for a few months. It's fab normally not sure why I sometimes do it in store, such a bind.

Flier · 13/11/2007 16:04

you can only book up until Mon 3rd Dec as at today.

Did tescos shop last year, was fab, nothing missing as far as I recall and I don't really remember any substitutions so if there were any, they weren't major.

cocococo · 13/11/2007 20:55

I did sainsburys last year, arrived christmas eve and no substitutions.

my tesco shop was ok last year, apart from ordering streaky bacon for my turkey and getting ayrshire middle or something like that! not the end of the world!

eddas I was expecting to bump into you at tesco and fight over a bag of carrots I have onlined shop but am going to go to tesco at G Green on sunday (before our appt to take the dd's to see the man in the big red suit!)and get everything I need veg/bread/milk/fresh food wise.

All the other longer life bits (dh=beer!) am getting weekly and putting in a box (got xmas cake/xmas pud/mince pies all on offer in m&s and all use by dates in Jan)

If you pre book a slot for 3 weeks ahead and checkout when does your card get debited please?
Also If I just add a couple of items and then checkout, can I pop into the account over that 3 weeks to add to it?

Flier · 13/11/2007 22:20

sunflowervalley, your card won't be charged until they deliver to you. if you get your basket to be over £50 then you can use one of the discount codes, then go back and chabge your basket nearer the time. I do this all the time, ie putting on 10 bottles of whisky so that I can get the slot I want and use the voucher I want. I then go into "my account" and choose the slot I had ordered and change it.

thanks flier,that's useful to know

Eddas · 14/11/2007 07:44

Thanks everyone. good to hear that not many/any substitutions. Think i'll do an order and then maybe visit somewhere for a few bits. Don't want you down there on your own eandh
