Hello

apart from paper chains, what would be easily made christmas decorations that we could make with DS1 (3 and a half)

am going bug-eyed looking at the BakerRoss website, need some simplification

if you google "salt dough recipe", you can make some lovely tree decorations.

Or nip to the ELC and buy a tub of clay and make them that way.

I did this a couple of years ago with my dd and gave them out to family and they look fab.

How about snowmen, with cotton wool? All you need is a toilet roll tube (or cut down kitchen roll, for those who insist that its unhygenic to use toilet rolls! ) ping pong ball, cotton wool and some googly eyes. There's a good DK book you could get, I'll link it for you. Hold on!

You could cut out some christmassy shapes and let your DS decorate them. Things like stars, bells, crackers or snowmen for example. Decorate with glitter, sparkly bits and stickers or cotton wool for the snowman.

A grown up will have to do the cutting out but then the child has free rein to do what they like to decorate.

Tress decorations with clay

I was drivelling on about this on another thread

There are some pics on my profile still - have a look

we made lollypop stars last year - I glued 5 sticks into a star and once dry ds decorated them with glitter glue. They looked really nice.

time4tea I know you mentioned paper chains, but have you seen these advent paper chains? I'm definitely going to do those this year.

Another thing my girls really enjoyed was a mammoth sticking and glitter poster using last years Christmas cards. The finished products were proudly presented to Granmother for decorating her fridge with.

Buy some cinammon sticks and then tie them long ways (log pile kind of thing) together using some twine / old looking garden twine and hey presto - snazzy expensive looking tree decorations!
