It's for my very lovely SIL in Malaysia. She would like a Christmas cd with traditional carols by a well respected choir, it's the sort of thing that's very difficult to get in Malaysia. She didn't specify whether she wants an adult or child choir, I might get her one of each.

TIA

I have the Christmas Carols from Kings, CD.

Brilliant! I do my Chrimtmas eve mince pie and sausage roll (oops but at least they are not from Greggs) making listening to it and it never fails to get me into the Christmas spirit

If you are after traditional, I would second Kings

tissy · 10/11/2007 17:54

Yep, deffo Carols from Kings

Salvation Army usually gets me in the mood as well, tend to start crying when I hear them playing as I do my Christmas shopping

Three Kings from Per-er-ersian lands afar

To Jordan follow the pointing star

And there in worship they bend the knee

As Mary's Child in her lap they see......

My all-time favourite carol!

I love that one too, tissy!

Thanks everyone, I'll order one this evening.

Will you all sneer at my lack of knowledge if I ask whether that's an adult or a boys choir? (My musical educations is sadly lacking. ) Whichever it is, does anyone have recommendations for the other kind.

Benjamin Britten 'Ceremony of carols' is awesome

I think Kings is a mixture of adults and boy trebles. Don't know about good children's choir CD

SweetFA · 10/11/2007 18:16

The Britten is usually sung by a boys choir - they have the best voices - girls can do it too though!

KIngs College Cambridge - the famous choir is men and boys only so any "Carols from Kings" don't have girls voices. Kings College School is mixed - that's why there are pictures of girls on the website, but they aren't in the famous choir.
