Bath toys for over 3s

DS is 3 and getting bored with the same old bath toys. Last year he got the Thomas shed thing, which he loved, but has now outgrown it. So many bath toys are for younger children, and some of the ones for older children seem enormous. Any recommended bath toys for over 3's that aren't huge?

My DS plays with the Playmobil fire station pumps in the bath and I have thought about him getting the motorboat and submarine.

I was looking at the bath flute in ELC and the shower for my 3 and 4 yr olds.

A packet of drinking straws to blow bubbles with provided many happy baths for my 6 and 8 year old! Very cheap! Blow don't suck though.....

they have bath jigsaws in tesco like the alphabet letters but jigsaw pieces

crayola bath crayons

Oh and a little bath basket ball is what my 8 and 10 yr olds play with! lol

I was also going to suggest the Playmobil fire boat with working pump! DS loves it, and I too am thinking about the other water toys by them!

Thanks everyone, these ideas are great. I had never thought of playmobil in the bath, will add to ds's christmas list. Also really like the basket ball game and the jigsaws idea, as well as the straws (though I just know he will drink the water to wind me up!).

mine have a collection of dinosaurs kept in the bathroom - any animal collection would do.

MorocconOil · 04/11/2007 20:51

I can second playmobil in the bath. My DSs 6 and 8 play with the viking ship, sea rescue set and submarine endlessly. The helicopter even ends up in there.I used to get in the bath with them, but there's no room anymore with all the Playmobil.

MorocconOil · 04/11/2007 20:53

They also have some rubber sea animals which they use to enhance the playmobil adventures.

The Works have the bath flutes, xylophone & drums for £4.99 each. BTW, they look extremely similar to the ones sold by GLTC!

Plastic jugs, ladles, a funnel and - here is my own, brilliant, best idea I have had in my whole life - a waterproof torch. Turn the lights out - it's amazing!

hoxtonchick · 05/11/2007 15:58

lego works well

ChasingSquirrels · 05/11/2007 16:08

well jugs and funnel, but seeker got there first, and straws. I loving the waterproof torch idea - will get dh's diving torch out.

seeker · 05/11/2007 16:38

Wait til it's dark, turn the bathroom light out and shine the torch up through the bubbles. Then go on from there. Even better if there are two children sharing a bath!

Playmobil · 05/11/2007 16:42

Letterbop do a fab foaming soap thing which they can do modelling with.

Playmobil · 05/11/2007 16:42

Letterbox

ChasingSquirrels · 05/11/2007 17:25

thanks seeker - good job it gets dark early now then! 5yo will love it, not sooo sure about the 21mo though. And they are going to fight over the torch aren't they...
