Can anyone recommend a good toy to get for my dd who will be 9months by then. I have looked through the Argos catalogue and there seems to be so many to choose from I wondered if anyone could recommend anything which is good value for money and will keep her amused. Dont want to spend a lot on something she will have lost interest in by New Year!

a foil helium balloon. Honestly, she'll be mesmerised for hours! (course goes without saying you need to keep an eye re: long string etc...)

Hard to buy for this age as they don't really "do" anything....

How about some musical instruments: marracas, wooden xylophone etc? elc do some decnt ones IIRC.

when ds was that age he loved his wooden trolley with blocks in (still does), his fisher price helter skelter ball thingy, the fisher price animals train, vtech nursery book, his activity table, wind up tv, toy phone, toy laptop and one of these

also he had one of these and a set of keys but a tesco's own one so was a bit cheaper.

It's a long time since mine were that age, but I used to get a lot of stuff from the Early Learning Centre, worth browsing there if you haven't already? DS was 7 months his first Christmas. We got him some soft building bricks (a bit like these but there were more of them and they were different shapes) and a Chicco animal train see here both of these were played with tons. He also enjoyed stacking rings.
