Blimey the years go by & before you know it they are older & wiser, dss is 9 now & i am totally stuck on what to buy him for christmas, does anyone have any ideas not to expensive?

He loves football so was going to by him a football, he supports Man united so may get him a top.

He is a typical boy.

Help i have no idea what else....

We're thinking Nintenedo Ds or he is showing interest in a digital Scalextric. Anything Dr Who related too !

Does he like 'gross' stuff?! I found a gross magic set for my 8 yr old ds. We have got him a rugby shirt (england) and a small globe. He has asked for monopoly and I got him 'uno' too.

After that I don't know and family keep asking!

DS1 is almost 9 and he's a Man Utd supporter & football mad so we're getting him their football kit with his name on the back. He plays for a team and their picture was in the local paper after winning a cup so we've had the picture turned into a poster for him. He's also asked for a test tube alien which is where I think you grow an alien type thing and he's mad about wrestling so he's had a very early present of tickets to go and see the wrestling and we're getting him a wrestling ring and some wrestlers.

ds lite was a tremendous hit last year for my ds who was also celebrating 9th birthday.
He is also heavily obsessed by the Guniess Book of Records, star wars lego, any lego actually, Bionicles etc. He also loves hi scooter and roller blades. He was also given a R/C helicopter which could be played with inside or out which was a huge hit, though not very robust.
This year he is pleading for an mp3 player as he is increasingly obsessed by music.

Goal keeper gloves, football nets? DS2 has asked for a Nintendo DS, football and crickets bits.

Thanks some great suggestions, i just don't want to waste money on something he would probably think was rubbish as we don't have money to waste.

KathyH - Your ds sounds like dss he loves wrestling too.

He actually has alot he is quite spoilt & probably has more than many children, he has a nintendo ds, a psp & ps2 so no more computers.

We will probably get him the man u kit with his name on sounds good & a football, maybe some trainers too.

I know what you mean. DH works in computer games so we have ps1, ps2, gameboy and nintendos kicking around . This year, it seems the only thing left to get is a Wii. His birthday is right before xmas so it makes it doubly hard to know what to get...

peskypixie, my ds (aged 10 in dec) just saw that link and drooled

peskipixie · 28/10/2007 11:06

we bought it when it was 9.99 and i thought it was a bargain then. its massive, easy to put together, loads of bits that they can fiddle with but nothing that drops off easily. it one of the best toys we have

ghoulmoonfiend · 28/10/2007 11:08

I have a younger ds too, so would get loads more play value out of it

Do you know, I spent £50 on a wood, ELC one a couple of years ago and sadly, they were not attracted to it

They want fun plastic junk
