dh spent 15 minutes in the fight to liberate a toy from a package

it said 'easy open package'

countless small plastic tags and twisty things later and the child had lost interest

thought you were going to say you'd had the in-laws around for the day!

Blandmum · 27/10/2007 17:34

There is a special place in hell for the man (and I'm sure it must have been a man) who invented those bloody plastic loops that need to be cut, and the plastic and metal ones are not much better!

ssd · 27/10/2007 17:44

I thought it was a family get together as well!

capp

TOP TIP

what we do is remove the toy from the box and wrap it like that

all the wires and plastic tags and boxes annoys the shit out of me on xmas day morn

also means you can get batteries in toy before wrapping

fireflyfairy2 · 27/10/2007 18:16

We remove all the packaging on Xmas eve night

We don't wrap anything though. We arrange all dd's stuff on the big sofa & all ds's stuff on the 2 seater No packaging to rip... Of course they still have their gifts from the in-laws etc to open.. but I have convinced them to use re-usable gift bags so there's no wrapping paper to pick up!!

MaureenMLove · 27/10/2007 18:34

Oh, that just reminded me FF! I was sick of all the wrapping paper last year and I bought up every conceivable sized gift bags in the sales in January! Now, where did I put them so I woudn't loose them?......

Alambil · 27/10/2007 20:56

LOL maureen!

I unpack the toys, then if they are an awkward shape I put it back in the box (cos boxes are easy to wrap!)

maisiedaisy · 27/10/2007 23:04

I take toys out of packaging too and it also cuts down on the rubbish over Christmas.

PeachesMcScream · 27/10/2007 23:09

Well aren't you all a clever bunch then

I hate those plastic tags too Cappu.

spookykitty · 27/10/2007 23:12

I take the toy out the box, get rid of packaging, those plastic ties, stick any stickers on, do the batteries then stick it in the box and wrap it back up. Why do they need so much packaging and why can't they stick the bloody stickers on themselves? (they being toy manufacturers)

Niecie · 27/10/2007 23:12

Plastic tags are a pita but I also hate the toys that are screwed into the packaging so you have to get a screwdriver out to liberate them. Why?

FrannyandZooey · 27/10/2007 23:14

Naily that really is a fab tip

hope you have put it in for the home page
