beef wellington. Mmmm.

ImBarryScott · 27/10/2007 15:47

Beef rib here too.
Really not fussed about turkey at all, plus there's only three of us on the day. when the in-laws descend on the day after Boxing Day they're mightily sick of turkey, and clamour for rare beef butties.

Hekate · 27/10/2007 15:47

Dh wants us to try goose this year. If I could only track one down..

BroccoliSpears · 27/10/2007 15:51

I'm thiking about doing beef instead this year.

tiredemma · 27/10/2007 15:54

I hate turkey- its so dry.

ManxMum · 27/10/2007 16:04

Iceland's Boozy goose last year and it was delicious!!

Year before? Chicken corma, tikka and trimmings

This year? Stir fry maybe..

tiredemma · 27/10/2007 16:06

The nurse I was working with last night said she was fed up of cooking and was going to order Nandos this year for Xmas dinner!

she said they all love it so why not??

I love my xmas dinner ( but maybe because StepMIl always cooks mine!!)

MaryAnnSingletomb · 27/10/2007 16:06

MIL is cooking and she usually does a capon

choufleur · 27/10/2007 16:12

i quite fancy beef too - a rib sounds good ImBarryScott.

chinese takeaway on christmas day and family get together with chilli con carne on boxing day.

kimibobbingforapples · 27/10/2007 16:21

Goose as well as turkey in the kimi household.

agalch · 27/10/2007 16:27

I am fed up cooking for 14 on xmas day so we are all going to the local chinese buffet place.

They are doing the usual chinese food as well as the turkey and sirloin steaks so looking forward to no shopping/cooking or clearing up!!!!

goingfor3 · 27/10/2007 16:32

Ork for us this year. It looked so tasty in the M&S christmas ordering guide. Hekate they do goose too.

goingfor3 · 27/10/2007 16:33

Thats meant to be PORK!!!!!!!!!!!!

MaryAnnSingletomb I thought that Capons were illegal to buyin this coutry? It may be a new thing as I know dp's aunt usually has one.

foxinsocks · 27/10/2007 16:51

Ork sounds good though doesn't it. Like a special pork from Orkney.

I think we'll have turkey (or even Urkey from Urk) but I haven't made up my mind. Normally I'm trying to block out all thoughts of Christmas by now but one of my sisters is coming over to the UK (yippeee) so I can justify having Christmas at ours this year and I'm really excited. First time I will have seen my niece .

ImBarryScott · 27/10/2007 17:00

goingfor3, you made me think of auk! I guess it would be interesting, if tricky to source.

screamsprout · 27/10/2007 17:03

We are veggie, so no birds (or anything else of that ilk) in this house!!

fireflyfairy2 · 27/10/2007 17:21

We will have a turkey, but we also have a joint of gammon & maybe a bit of beef.

We usually have turkey & gammon on xmas day then beef if we have visitors on Xmas eve, as it's dd's birthday also.

Then we make turkey curry on boxing day. We never have much left over as we don't go for massive turkeys etc...

What's a capon?

HairyIrene · 27/10/2007 17:26

dont eat meat

my mum gets whole wild salmon, all the trimmings!
delish

no norfolk nightmares here!

Me.

There will only be me, DH and my dad - with 2 toddlers who arent big meat eaters.

Will do Beef instead, I dont want to be eating turkey for the next 6 months!

hippipotOFBLOODami · 27/10/2007 17:40

Me, as dh really does not like Turkey.
On Christmas day there will be just the 4 of us, so will do a roast beef which is loved by us all.
Then on Boxing day we will be at dh's mum and she tends to do turkey, beef and pork, so lots to choose from [yum emoticon]

UnionJack · 27/10/2007 17:41

I'll be doing a posh chicken.

spooklesandwhine · 27/10/2007 17:50

I won't be as i'm veggie

DP and DC usually have pork or chicken anyway none of them particuarly like turkey tbh!

MrsBadger · 27/10/2007 17:51

posh chicken for us too
it's the trimmings that make it, so no point going mad for turkey that's never all that nice anyway. Chicken's much better cold too.
