Leaving my outdoor Christmas lights up...

Ok so I’ve taken in the Santa train and the candy canes but the gutter icicles and tree fairy lights aren’t explicitly Christmassy so it’s acceptable to leave them up until, say, Easter? Yes?
I don’t care. I’m doing it. Grin

We’ve taken down our Christmas lights but I want to get some multicoloured ones to put up in their place! Trouble no where has any in stock (that I like!)

In Canada.... our patch of the neighbourhood tends to have a number of houses that keep their lights up till mid or end of January. Lights typically go up in the two weeks following Remembrance Day. It does brighten up the place as the dark nights draw in and makes me happy. I divest the evergreen wreath on the front door of any decoration and leave it there till possibly the end of February, which coincides with when the winter slowly begins its transition to spring.

I took down the tree etc last weekend, but I'm not touching the outside lights! They are so cheerful.

DH has unplugged the gutter lights. Let the battle of wills commence!

Usually I take them down on the 6th because I'm superstitious. But this year I'm seriously wanting to leave the tree up. Have taken down the other decorations and my sons Father Christmas sign from the window. But I love my tree and could do with cheering up.

Youseethethingis · 08/01/2021 21:39

So I plugged the lights back in and DH hasn’t noticed yet. Will be interesting to see how long it takes him!
He seems to think because nobody else on our street has them on still, I’m mad for considering it and it’s just not on. He’s disappointingly conformist at times 😂

I took the icicle lights down but I do have fairy lights on the canopy out back in the summer. Then it's just atmospheric.

Ours are still up! I'm eating Christmas cake next to my twinkly tree right now Xmas Smile

I done it. I left the tree up. As I said usually it goes up the first weekend of December and comes down on the 6th January because I'm superstitious. But this year due to circumstances I didn't actually get to finish it and turn it on until Christmas Day, didn’t finish it properly so I was happy with it until Boxing Day, and we, well I just haven’t had long enough to enjoy it and couldn’t take it down yesterday. Not even sorry. (Everything else is away though, cards, decorations, ornaments and my sons Father Christmas sign). Will start closing the shutters again when I feel we’ve subjected the neighbours to it enough).

Still twinkling away here!
Couldn’t be arsed sorting out the timer again after DHs unplugging antics so lights are now on 24/7 after he gave up Grin
