What have you forgotten?

I feel like every year, something relatively unimportant gets forgotten and not realised until Christmas Eve once all of the shops are closed.

This year, mine is placemats / coasters that don't look ridiculous with the table cloths. I've just laid the table and debating between no placemats and potentially ruining white table cloth, metal place mats that look absurd, or setting DSD the challenge of turning empty amazon boxes into something "artistic" with the arts and crafts set we got her for tomorrow...

Make me feel better, what did you forget?

I haven't noticed anything this year but last year it was the pigs in blankets. I wasn't popular Xmas Grin

Cream cheese. For the cheesecake that was supposed to be tomorrow's dessert. We have no other dessert (other than copious amounts of chocolate). I realised early afternoon, but I'm self isolating so couldn't just pop to the shop (2 min walk away). Dd2 helped me make Christmas biscuits instead.

I usually forget to take something out of the oven that's part of Christmas dinner. So I'll guess it's that!

DeanImpala67 · 24/12/2020 19:53

Mince pies, had to just put an oat and raisin cookie out for Santa.

Elllicam · 24/12/2020 19:53

Peas. I made roast butternut squash instead though so it’s all good.

Nooo! You wouldn't be popular in this house either haha. I bought extra because of the amount of times DP asked if I'd remembered to buy them, just to shut him up

I have everything organised and wrapped... BUT in about an hour were going to get the toddlers ride on car out of the box and make it up and I have a feeling I'm going to need a spanner/tool that I dont have. Meant to open the box yesterday to check but forgot all about it.

Cream and ice cream

ipswichwitch · 24/12/2020 19:55

Bread sauce. I know people say you should make it yourself anyway, but since I’m the only one who likes it frankly I can’t be arsed with that and just buy ready made. I’m annoyed at myself now since I forgot it and now I have to make it!

timeforawine · 24/12/2020 19:55

Mulled wine

FlamingGoat · 24/12/2020 20:02

Crackers and Gravy.
Not too much of a problem. I can make my own gravy and shout BANG at the husband whilst throwing a toy at him 🤣

Skipsurvey · 25/12/2020 09:20

enough wine.
might have to stop at the garage

lucysmam · 25/12/2020 09:50

Selection boxes.

Tbh, I realised when I ordered my shop last week & did mention to everyone that I'd forgotten but no-one seemed fussed so I just picked up a couple of cartons of Heroes to share.

BethHarmon · 25/12/2020 10:36

I forgot to get bacon out if the freezer . It was to be draped over the turkey.

CoffeeAndDryShampoo · 25/12/2020 11:08

@FlamingGoat that's hilarious 😂

psychomath · 25/12/2020 11:20

Mats to put hot baking dishes on so they don't ruin the table/counters - I'm going to end up with everything balanced precariously on the hob later as it's the only available surface D:

Littlemissnutcracker · 25/12/2020 11:23

I left a present in the boot of my car Hmm
Half an hour after santa gifts were opened it appeared under the tree Xmas Grin
Luckily they didn't question it as we use sacks on the sofa and it was a family game and an extra gift. But was annoyed with myself

Skipsurvey · 25/12/2020 11:23

Realised last night we had no pudding or cake, hence a last minute trip fifteen minutes before closing to the local express store

GrettaGreen · 25/12/2020 11:47

Psychomath can you get a side of cardboard from an opened present and whack it on the counter for more space?
