Do you have space for your dc new presents?

Just realized once the presents are open tomorrow there isn't really any space to store them. They're currently crammed somewhere and I'm hoping once taken out of boxes they will take up less space.

My dm means well but has once again got all my dc a large present and we just don't have the space. When she asked if there's anything they need I said something small as we don't have the space!

I had intentions of clearing out old toys, but just haven't had the time.

Is anyone else going to have this problem?

It's stressing me now.

Yeah, this is definitely us. I'm planning to use the restrictions/lockdown time to replace some older toys with the new ones and get a bag/box together to give away. Ideally I'd do it before but I've not had time this year.

Things will also be smaller when they're out of the boxes too.

It can feel a bit overwhelming on Christmas Day/Boxing Day but it will sort itself out. I'm going to try to just enjoy the chaos and begin to work my way through it over the next couple of weeks.

Merry Christmas Wink

Yep same boat. Including with the DM who had been briefed to not get any more big items, which she does every Christmas and birthday. I'm trying to figure out if I can jam another kallax unit it somewhere Grin

Thankfully eldests presents are a lot smaller these days. However they are both getting bikes from their dad which will probably end up here so need to find room for them!

I had a toy clear out in September and I still feel the same. Clear put got it to a nice amount of toys now going to be too much again Confused If it is any consolation my 10 year old is clothes, stationery and mobile phone so her stuff is no bother to store. Family tend to give her money too. So only a problem for the small years! It is an overwhelming thought though.

Mine are derived now so not so much of an issue. I remember with a shudder the year mil bought one of them a huge cheap desk with a tiny cheap sewing machine when we had NO room. Hell

It is overwhelming and I don't want it to ruin Christmas with me being stressed about all the stuff.

I don't even think a Kallax unit could save me now Xmas Grin

I try to buy things that can be added to stuff we already have as much as possible - metal cars can be chucked in the car box, dolls cab go with all the doll things for example. It helps a bit, though we do still have 3 kallax full of toys plus bedrooms Blush

Next time be more specific and say yes please they would like this (small) item!

I have a wishlist for ours so that I can avoid anyone buying a huge item.

We always have a big clear out before Christmas. Take any toys which they don't play with to a charity who make up parcels for local kids. I've put things, which DD1 has grown out of, into the loft for DD2 in a few years. We have 3 empty drawers in our kallax which will hopefully be enough room.

One thing I've done this year is to put small items (e.g. blocks, playmobil, train track) into canvas bags or Tupperware boxes. Then they fit into the kallax better. We had one for blocks and one for track, I've put both into canvas bags so now they fit into one drawer.

I had a big clear out a few weeks ago, dd2 is mainly getting Lego so once unboxed it doesn’t take up loads of room. We might buy more storage boxes to put Lego in after Christmas if we need too.

Thankfully I had a small clear out & took some toys to my mums for them to have there. I’ll assess after Christmas & see if I can take anymore ‘old’ toys. My mum has a bedroom etc there for them so is happy to take extra toys.

DD is 6 and currently into the Our Generation dolls. Santa is bringing the Our Generation school which is massive and I’ve no idea where I’ll store it. Her dolls house already lives in the sitting room. My mam and sister both have large items for her too. Her bedroom is small so they won’t fit there.

DS is 9 and thankfully all his items are small this year.

My mam reminds me they won’t be small for ever and toys will be a thing of the past in the house before I know it and to just embrace it. Still hard though!
