Has your 11(ish) yo got a "something to do" present?

Dd2 has had her main present already (praying mantis) which she loves but I'm slightly thinking she's going to end up a bit bored on Friday when dd1's off playing her main present (keyboard).

If your dc has a something to do; what is it? I'm hoping to either get their dad to pick something up today in town, or pick something up myself when we go to the market for veg tomorrow.

My 9.5yo got a perfume making kit on our Santa visit. She's got a kit to make a solar powered robot from her sister.. she loves doing science kits.

(Also has a friendship bracelet making kit in her stocking.)

Bellateabea · 23/12/2020 13:03

Bubble tea kit
Paint by numbers

Lovemusic33 · 23/12/2020 13:13

Craft kit, felting or sewing?

My dd1 hasn’t got much to do on her own either, it’s hard as they get older. Dd is nagging me for a new pet but she has to wait as we have no more space (too many animals) 🤣.

lucysmam · 23/12/2020 13:16

She tends to sit with me to do crafty stuff; which is ok but I'd quite like to relax too on Friday.

It's quite an awkward age I think!

I can easily think of other things dd1 would enjoy but dd2 has me a bit stumped Confused

My dd likes those sticky mosaic books, we bought some from Aldi a while back and I think they sell them on Amazon, they keep her busy for a a hour or so and it’s something she can do alone.

My dd2 still likes Lego and does them alone (won’t let me help).

peacockfeather11 · 23/12/2020 13:23

Lego here too - she loves it.

Asked for make-up for the first time (only for home), so will probably be experimenting.

vinoandbrie · 23/12/2020 13:28

Baking subscription, she’ll get the first kit under the tree.

TheFairyCaravan · 23/12/2020 13:29

What about some really nice colouring pencils/pens and an adult colouring book?

Spied · 23/12/2020 13:31

Scratch art book ( nature theme) from tk maxx.

MrsWonderland · 23/12/2020 13:36

I have 10 and 11 year old boys - their doing presents are Gravitrax and Boomtrix extensions, Hama beads, Domino and Laser mazes and some small Lego

SE13Mummy · 23/12/2020 13:38

11-yr-old DD will have books to read and Fimo to make stuff with. Those two will keep her occupied for ages.

lucysmam · 23/12/2020 14:01

She does have 2 new books, and a colouring book with pencils and felt tips from dd1.

Maybe I'm overthinking a bit & she'll be fine 🤷‍♀️

I always loved something to do on the day. The afternoon can get a bit boring when the adults are dozing in front of the TV. There must be a little puzzle, puzzle book, craft kit she would like? What about a rubiks cube or similar?

MrsGrindah · 23/12/2020 14:08

In fact, I still feel like that now and I’m 51!

NowellSingWe · 23/12/2020 14:26

He's got a Christmas decoration to make (a felt sloth).

hopeishere · 23/12/2020 17:41

Boy but he has lego, a jigsaw and a crystal making kit.

There's still a camper van unmade from last year though Hmm

XmasLockdown · 23/12/2020 20:10

Ds10 gets Lego and microscope. Dd8 gets Lego that keeps her busy building and playing.

lucysmam · 23/12/2020 20:26

MrsGrindah that's what I was thinking. She likes the challenge of a rubiks cube so I have put a small, festive, one in her stocking.

Maybe we'll have a wander in The Works tomorrow and I'll see if she spots anything in there.

SillyUnMurphy · 23/12/2020 21:34

We don’t do main presents until the evening, so, inspired by this thread, I’ve just ordered my two DDs paint by sticker books to add to their stockings - they’ll love them and it will keep them busy.

aModernClassic · 23/12/2020 21:46

Jigsaw puzzles. My DD loves them.

kitkat463 · 23/12/2020 21:53

Lip balm making kit. Huge tub of vaseline, some essential oils and the empty travel pots you get. For a 10 year old, fracrtuin of the price of the lip balm making kits you buy and get loads more for the money!

Itsokthanks · 23/12/2020 21:56

Resin art and mosaic making kits.
