But won't be able to deliver all my DC presents because they're stuck in a tier 2 area with family Xmas Angry

We are tier 4.

Is it too late for Father Christmas to use a courier? Expensive though...

Fruitteatime · 23/12/2020 08:44

I genuinely think the cost would be prohibitive, due to the size and weight of the large items and there's a chance things would get lost. I don't think there's a worry about them not being here Christmas day but I've read it may be months before we can travel again.

I would just go and collect them, maybe meet half way to collect?

I’m now picturing people chucking presents across a car park to keep the 2m distance 🤣

Oh I don't know if it's essential travel, what would you say if stopped on the way to get them?

Unlikely you would get stopped but if you do I’m sure you can think of something essential? , the worst to happen would be you would get turned around and told to go home.

Peppafrig · 23/12/2020 16:54

Can Santa use a last minute courier ! Or send a IOU .

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 23/12/2020 17:00

I would arrange to meet half way or collect too.

Fruitteatime · 23/12/2020 19:25

I'm fairly shocked people are advocating going. When rates were less earlier in the year, I asked about my dp meeting one of my parents halfway to collect the clothes we stored at their house from my older DD for DS to grow into and it was a fairly unanimous verdict that I was being unreasonable and that was I sure it wasn't an excuse for us to meet up and why couldn't I just buy more clothes Confused

I'm not sure what we'll do. Certainly looks like there won't be much movent allowed in the months ahead Xmas Sad

I’m also get surprised at people saying you should meet halfway! I definitely wouldn’t. How old are the kids?

GinnieHempstock · 23/12/2020 19:27

Are they just the presents from their grandparents? Or all of their presents?
If the former, then they can surely wait and have a second Christmas in several months. If the latter, I would meet half way and get them.

00100001 · 23/12/2020 19:29

Just go and get them.

You won't get stopped.

And if they ask why, just tell them you're collecting the kids Christmas Presents.

00100001 · 23/12/2020 19:30

Honestly it's so busy out there, we're in Tier 4, it's just normal busy on roads and extra busy in shops.

Hardly anyone is doing "essential travel".

Candycane2020 · 23/12/2020 19:31

I arranged a courier for mine and they’ve arrived within 24 hours. Bit late for you now though :-(
