Apologies if this has been asked before but as Christmas mixing is off the cards in tier 4 I'm after some ideas of games / challenges that can be done on Zoom. Ages range from 76 to 6!

We did a Christmas quiz at the weekend. Each family did a round. We choose to do Name that film in which we recreated with the children various movie posters Grin. We also filmed 2 scenes from 2 different films. Was hilarious and definitely cheered everyone up!

I have done Zoom bingo which was fun, but you would need to be able to get bingo cards to the participants beforehand. I guess they could make their own?

Charades is fairly straightforward. If you can get people to use the whiteboard function, Pictionary can also work.

Something like Taboo can work - one person takes charge and sends the word to be described via the private chat.

We’ve played a Bucket of Doom type game - send everyone off to collect say 3 random items (with no explanation) and then give a scenario, and people have to say how they would solve it using one of their items. Things like ‘you’re a snowman and a heatwave is coming’, ‘a present has fallen off Santa’s sleigh and you need to get it back to him’.

Knife, fork, spoon - everyone needs one of each. One person is nominated games master (or as we call them, Knight of the Cutlery Drawer). On the count of three, everyone holds one up - anyone holding up the same item as the Knight is out. Keep going until there’s a winner!

These are great. Thank you.

Love the idea of acting out movie scenes. DCs would love to do that on Christmas Eve. I'm not used to using Zoom apart from chatting as we use Teams at work. Can you share videos on there?

Yes- save it on your desktop and then share your screen. Have fun!

You could do pictionary. When you share screens there are a lot of annotate options which means anyone can draw pictures. You just need one person to share a blank PowerPoint. You'd need to try it before hand so that you could talk everyone else through at the start but it's fun once you get going.

Macmillan have produced an escape room, murder mystery, "night at the races" and quiz to be used on Zoom. We were planning to do one with friends on new years eve.
