Must have foods to eat over Christmas

This has probably been asked already, but what are the foods that you make sure to pick up in your shopping, ready for the week or so around Christmas and New Years?

I always need to have m&s sausage rolls, salt and vinegar Pringles (I don’t eat them any other time of the year so I don’t know why!) baileys for a baileys hot chocolate and some whipped cream

Luckily for me not French cheese or wine! British cheeses, locally grown veg, locally produced chocolates, Italian wine, Greek Brandy.

Brandy snaps, nuts in shells, Turkish delight, marzipan fruits, cashews, dates - all things I only ever buy at Christmas! Then a big cheese board, charcuterie, nice breads, posh juice, smoked salmon, plenty of eggs

Oh and pickled onions and fancy jars of fruit in syrups like baby pears in amerretto or cherrys in kirsch.

Roasted parsnips. Bendick's bittermints. Pickled walnuts (these are getting hard to find), brazil nuts in their shells, dates in that long box with a funny fork to get them out. Extra thick double cream to go on the pudding. Wensleydale cheese with cranberries.

Love some of these! Lots more things added to my Christmas list 😋

I do the glass bottles of Coke @mrsbyers I thought it was just me secretly thinking I was fancy whilst drinking a Coke hahaha

Lebkuchen is a must here too!

Twiglets, I start buying (and eating!) as soon as they hit the shops I LOVE them!

Pigs in blankets, standard. Quality street for DH.
White chocolate coins- yum!
SO.MUCH.CHEESE but I only really get Stilton and camembert because they’re my favs.

The glitter berry j2o. First had them about 5 years ago on a Xmas works night out and they are the nicest non-alcoholic drink I have ever tasted and get about 500 when they appear at Xmas.

@purplecorkheart if you're near an Aldi their lobster and crayfish macaroni cheese (in the freezer section) is lovely.

Things I only buy at Christmas (other than mince pies, Christmas pudding etc) are:

Jacobs cracker crisps
Double Gloucester cheese
Extra thick Baileys cream
Stollen
Red cabbage
After Eights

CucumberFacePot · 21/12/2020 22:23

Crackers
A multitude of cheeses - Blue, Brie, cheddar and a random choice
Nuts
Ferrero Rocher
Shortbread

I also love a Xmas sandwich - any mixture of nut roast, quorn roast, salmon, stuffing, salad, mayo and cranberry sauce on soft white bread.

And plenty of brandy to wash it all down with Wink

Profiteroles that I can nick one out the fridge every time I open it

I know lots of people find it a bit grim 🙈 but the primula cheese in a tube. Love the stuff! Especially the one with ham.

Also, Wensleydale and cranberry
Blue stilton
Terrys chocolate orange
Matchmakers
After eights
A net of nuts in their shells
Pringles
Dates
Cocktail pickled onions
Pate on warm crusty part baked rolls
Clementines
Lurpak butter
Squirty cream
Full fat coke
Tubs of twiglets and cheeselets

Jesscarbqueen87 · 21/12/2020 23:31

Oh and shloer, only ever buy that at Christmas
