Easy picky party food ideas

Due to Covid and for various restrictions I will be bubbling with my dad’s household for christmas have agreed to host a meal at mine.

I’m not a cook at all. I have a small kitchen and no talent! I’m hoping some mumsnetters will have some helpful ideas for easy picky time party foods I can serve and hopefully prepare in advance of the day due to lack of kitchen space.

My requirements are that I can hopefully buy the ingredients in this weekends shop so nothing that goes off too soon either!

A salad and dessert is sorted. I’ve planned cheese and crackers, will buy dips and hummus etc locally Christmas eve. Got pringles and breadsticks and olives etc.
I’m buying some fancy part baked rolls and planning Nigella’s sticky sausages as I have done them to rave reviews before. Also will buy some party frozen bits like chicken drumsticks, a fancy pork pie etc plus some samosas/spring rolls for kids.

I think I need some carby or veg type option. Any ideas please?? Anything I can prepare would be so helpful.

Thank you!

Homemade coleslaw and a potato/rice/pasta salad would go nice with your other bits. Or a traybake of roasted veg/peppers.

You have dips, so carrot and cucumber sticks are an easy option. Plus cherry tomatoes mixed in with the veg sticks adds another bright colour.

Potato gratin. You mentioned food for kids. How about Mac and cheese. Add breadcrumbs on the top abs stick in oven. Will give a crispy top to Mac and cheese. Make it little fancier.
You can make a cheese board. You already got dips and crackers etc.
To save you cooking and taking the stress on how about finger party food from Iceland.

Ready made vol au vents filled with a) brie and cranberry sauce and b) mushrooms in creme fraiche (cooked in advance) warmed in oven then serve. Gone down well with vegetarians in the past. If you have an Aldi their veg tempura nests with sweet chilli sauce are really tasty.

Veggie samosas
Cheese and onion rolls

What about, buying a couple of small tubs of old sandwich filler and make up some sandwichees?
