What do you eat on Christmas day if you live alone?

This year it's just my veggie adult dd and me on Christmas day. I'm not cooking Christmas dinner. I'm thinking I'll order a Chinese takeaway if they're open.

What do you eat if you live alone or aren't spending the day in a large group?

I use to make myself a Christmas burger when I lived alone. Chicken breast or thigh marinated in what ever you feel like, for me my own honey mustard marinade, cranberry, sauce, Camembert, slice of eggy bread (I don’t know why I just liked it)And the usual salad. Served with a side of home made chunky chips.

I would order Chinese takeaway

I made myself proper Christmas dinner when I have done Christmas alone in the past, and I have every intention of doing so this year. Hardly anyone else ever makes an effort for me, but I don't see why I should miss out on things I like because of that.

My plan is that I will cook a gammon joint in cola on Christmas eve and will have that with some turkey thigh with roast veggies. In actuality I will probably eat a tin of toffees and a box of mince pies washed down with a gallon of port or sherry or merlot while watching crap telly in my PJs - bliss!

I am really looking forward to cold meat, mashed potatoes and pickles on Boxing Day. My favourite bit of my solo Christmas.

Is it just me that thought that everyone who didn’t have a traditional dinner of turkey had traditional dinner 2 of a curry?

FestiveFannyGallops · 16/12/2020 23:27

I'd probably make myself a veggie lasagne or homemade veggie pizza.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 16/12/2020 23:38

I'd skip the turkey and just make trays of goose fat roasted potatoes and carrots

I love roast potatoes! Might just do that, maybe parsnips too, and gallons of gravy.

I had a 2 person Christmas once when I lived abroad and we just had a chicken with trimmings. Can't your daughter have Nut roast or veggie sausages

I used to have an Indian curry reheated. But this year I have found a local restaurant that are delivering a 3 course meal Christmas meal. Bottle of wine good film, fleece blanket and I’m good.
