Air Fryer before or after Xmas

Hi all,

I have decided to buy an air fryer as an Xmas gift for my husband (which will benefit moi too!)
Just to give you a little info, I’m a bit of a spender, so whilst my husband will appreciate a gift, he will quiz me about how much it costs (not that he always gets the absolute truth!) and gets satisfaction if it’s a good bargain.

hubbys birthday is just after Christmas, and I’m wondering if I should wait till after Christmas to gift him a double Xmas and bday gift in the hope that there will be price drops/sales or should I just buy the air fryer beforehand (as an Xmas present as it’s always lovely to give a nice Christmas present on Christmas Day).

So, just in case I wasn’t clear - my question, is should I wait till after Christmas to buy and gift the air fryer (hopefully at a better price) at the sales.

Or do they not really slash prices for air fryers and just gift him it at current prices for Xmas day.

While you’re here, if you could suggest a decent air fryer within £40-80 that has a larger holding capacity which I would mostly use for frozen chips, freshly seasonsed (dry rub) chicken, sausages, bacon etc. It would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I would buy now, I have no idea which is best but watching as I would love one myself 🙂

I only have experience with Actifry by Tefal but you’re looking at £150 plus. They are great but the novelty soon wore off for me and I couldn’t be bothered to drag it out of the cupboard (it’s quite heavy) to use it when it was as easy to put the oven on. My mum has one however and uses hers loads. She says it cooks the best chips.
Mine is a family one (with additional plate for nuggets, sausages etc while the chips cook underneath) and cost in excess of £250 and stuck in a cupboard hardly used...did you say you wanted one for a good price lol?!!!! Hehehe!!!

I have the Philips one, which is quite good, but nothing to compare it too..have found a some reduced ones, which might get you the best of both words!

I find my Ninja air fryer very useful, just wish I'd gone for the Ninja Air Fryer MAX AF160 instead, because not only is it a bit bigger, but you can bake in it.

I find it handy for dehydrating fruit when the summer harvest is bigger than I have space for in the freezer.

Personally I'd order it to arrive and be opened on Christmas morning, that way you can have lovely crispy roast spuds and delicious roasted brussels sprouts with chestnuts and bacon. But then you'd have to avoid checking the sales prices so that you don't see if they drop the price.

My husband bought an air fryer a few months ago. He loves it and does loads of things in it; weekend fry ups and bacon, sausages, chips etc. He bought one off Amazon for less than £50 to test the waters. We have so many unused kitchen faddy gadgets, he didn’t want to buy a more expensive brand to only use it a handful of times. I couldn’t tell you the brand of the model I’m afraid, but it did have lots of decent reviews but it isn’t one of the larger capacity ones.
I agree with everyone else, buy one now as it will come in handy for those weird in between Xmas and new year days.

Honeyroar · 14/12/2020 22:25

I’m thinking of buying one too. I reckon there will be plenty on eBay after Xmas!
