Guitar for 4 year old?

DS is 4 (5 in April) and wants a guitar for Christmas as he's an aspiring little rocker.

I don't want to get him an expensive 'proper' guitar as he'll grow out of it before he's old enough to really learn how to play. However many of the ones that are advertised as kind of gateway toys get awful reviews for mostly being hard/impossible to tune and keep.in tune.

Anyone got a good recommendation?

How about a Ukelele? My DC had lessons at school aged 5. It is easier to play (fewer strings so the first few chords use one or two fingers only) and as it is meant to be small, he won't grow out of it as such.

Second the ukelele much nicer to listen to than a toy

Ukulele surely? 4 is too small for a full size guitar.
