We have guests for Christmas lunch and I am thinking of buying crackers i can fill myself for a change so each individual has a couple of small gifts. Any gift ideas or the crackers I've drawn a blank!

We put in mini-gins/vodka (for adults 😉), Christmas tie (rolled tightly), Christmas bib (for granddaughter), mini hand cream/shower gel, lip balm, pretty hair pins, bracelet, nail varnish, chocolates, sugar mouse.....anything small enough to fit.

Sainsbury’s sell the mini travel size toiletries as well as the mini gins, etc,.

I always make them with a specific recipient in mind.

What do your guests like and how old are they?

DS plays guitar so he has had personalised plectrums and personalised leather key ring plectrum holder from etsy, guitar cleaner etc He also loves bath bombs, aftershave etc

DD loves cooking so has had a little silicone crab spoon holder, nutmeg grater etc or earrings, mini perfume, make up/nail polish/facepacks.

DM loves gardening and scented candles so she has had things like unusual seeds (black tomatoes, micro tomatoes, grey poppies) small bulbs, mini candles, coloured garden twine and plant labels. She also loves unusual earrings.

I won't go through my entire family but maybe there are some ideas!

I usually add a scratchcard (although we agree to share any big wins!) and everybody's favourite wrapped penny sweets to fill the entire space. It makes the crackers a bit of an event now that everyone is adult and Christmas is a bit more staid than with young DC Grin

Next do perfect size perfumes for £4!!

I also went a bit mad last year and got DH an old iPod nano and loaded it with music from pre-kids era.

@orangenasturtium I have a painter a decorator who loves golf and a paramedic who likes cats and getting her hair done!

Asda sell fill your own crackers. They're brown paper with a pattern on. I think they're £3 for six.

DM is a cat lover, I've given her cat earrings, a tiny jade cat and an Egyptian cat from the British museum before. Cat trinkets are pretty easy to find. Two of the DC are medical students and they've had things like a syringe pen, Bristol stool chart car air freshener, ECG trainer socks and fob watches (you can get cat fob watches). Or you could get a hair mask.

I don't know any golfers @steph2412... Maybe personalised golf balls, tees or pencils (for work) for the golfing decorator? Or golf ball cufflinks or wine bottle stopper? Multitool card for their wallet?

I do charity pin badges, did Marine Conservation Society last year, RSPB this year. Vintage/second hand pin badges are plentiful on ebay if you wanted something more individual for each person.

Angel2702 · 14/12/2020 16:16

I always like the crackers with the mini screwdrivers, nail clippers etc in always used.

Marmite27 · 14/12/2020 16:18

Ours have a wind up Santa, a scratch card (usually Christmas ones, but DH was tasked with buying them this year and bought normal ones Sad) and a chocolate Christmas pudding and chocolate sprout from Aldi.

Plus hat and the joke/ trivia slip that came with the kit.

I've brought some lovely sounding sainsbury pomegranate and Rose gin for adults. Children have sylvanian Family blind bags (undone of character and accessory put in cracker)

steph2412 · 14/12/2020 18:44

Wow these are all fantastic ideas! I ordered the crackers from Amazon today I did look around Asda, the works and Sainsbury's but couldn't find any!! I have 8 to do in total, we don't normally have guests so this year I want to make it that extra bit special! @orangenasturtium some of those ideas are great thank you!! I still have the children's to do aswel so I need to get cracking!!
