What to buy nieces (12 & 16)?

I have 2 nieces and have no idea what to buy them for Christmas. They are my DH's brothers children and are virtually strangers to us. They live at the other end of the country and I last saw them 2 years ago, my DH and his brother never talk, not because they have fallen out but because they have nothing in common. I've tried to get ideas from MIL but she barely knows them either. I've only got sons and have no idea what girls like.
So, what do I get 2 girls 12 and 16?

Money in a card? Vouchers?

SupaTrooper · 10/12/2020 17:46

My standard 'I know nothing about this child' present is a box of derwent watercolour pencils and a pad of watercolour paper.

I was going to say the Naked Marshmallow toasting sets but I see that they are not taking orders, which is worrying because I am awaiting delivery... I'll have another think for you.

Spied · 10/12/2020 17:52

I think I'd put money in a card each and probably wrap some chocolates. Lindors or Ferraro Roches to open.

My dds would like
Money
Christmas chocolate
Art stuff
Stationary
Hot chocolate sets kind of things
Socks with things like pineapples or avocado's on them (for some reason)
Photo frames

Probably nothing if you don't know them. Presumably you don't see them either

namochangoro · 10/12/2020 18:18

Cashmere socks (Next do some inexpensive ones)

My dd 12 wants a bliss light which is basically a galaxy projector thing. I think it's a thing on tiktok.

Ginogineli · 10/12/2020 19:40

As a mum of teens I advise you just give money

Kids are so different

Mine would hate stationery

chuffedasbuttons · 10/12/2020 19:57
