Absolutely struggling for ideas for a nice present for DF and his wife. They've said they only want a token present as have everything, but we want to think of something they'd like as they've been very kind to us over the years.

Thinking of some pottery items from DC and then something else. Did a book subscription service for DSM (is that the right acronym?!) last year which she enjoyed but feel I should think of something different this year.

DF likes plants but feel we've exhausted that avenue. They aren't particularly into wines or anything like that. I'm stuck!

If they've asked for a token gift could the dc make something? Along with a chocolate dipping selection from hotel chocolate? (Got my eyes on that for myself tbh)

Could you name a rose or plant after your dad/them

Fivemoreminutes1 · 09/12/2020 17:04

Coffee or tea subscription
Digital photo frame
RHS membership
Emma Bridgewater Hepburn smart speaker
Cashmere jumper

Most of those things aren’t token gifts.
A token gift is something inexpensive like wine or chocolates.

Some codes to stack that makes a few of the hotel Chocolat sets including the dipping one a really good price on the deals thread.

Flower, cake or bread subscription?

Some other ideas:

  • nice gardening gloves, hand spade, hand cream
  • bird feeder, bird nest box. I saw a cute one for robins made of ceramic in the shape of a teapot
  • family portrait
  • 2021 calender with family photos in it
  • photo book

Bird feeder or bird box is an excellent idea. Or bat box if you're so inclined.

Serin · 09/12/2020 22:54

I agree with the bird feeders.

If they enjoy gardening /outdoors RHS approved "Gold" gardening gloves - have bought DH the pruning ones - I bought via Amazon as were same price as most places but no delivery charges
Muck boots/gardening clogs
Acer for garden/camellia / David Austin Rose
Flower subscription - think M&S even do one now
Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser

Do they like going away? Just bought PIL a Welsh Rarebit voucher.
A restaurant voucher.
That way they don't end up with more stuff but have a nice time on their own

How about a bonsai tree? I was given one a few years ago for my birthday and I love it, it's a lovely present for a plant-lover.
