trendy clothes for 16 year old lads

I know this sounds silly but I have no clue about what brands are "in" for 16 year old lads. To be honest, we aren't brands people and DS has never asked for anything like that but I thought it might be nice to get him something, well, nice for a change. (I suppose underwear, jacket, shirt type things).
He isn't into sports brands or trainers at all. Hates football. He tends to wear mostly "band" t shirts at present.
Where should I be looking?

If he's wearing band shirts then it's highly unlikely he''ll appreciate or want what the trendy 16 year olds are wearing.

DD is 16 and the boys she hangs out with wear band shirts...not one of them ever wears an expensive or fashionable shirt.

I'd consider something else.

I'd definitely go for Calvin Klein boxers for underwear.

Takethewinefromtheswine · 05/12/2020 13:05

Echoing what Fortune said. Dd lives in band tshirts, so anything branded would not be welcomed.

I agree with the pp. My youngest isn't interested in clothes at all and would be really disappointed if was given 'trendy' clothes.

My dd is the same, she’s Tom boy and hates most the things girls her age are wearing, she would rather wear band T-shirt’s, loose fitting jeans and plain trousers, she likes funny sloggen T-shirt’s and will wear a few plain iso T-shirt’s from Hype but not bothered about sports wear. I would just stick to what he likes, more band T-shirt’s, jeans etc..

Could you get a new band t-shirt ?

My youngest is 14 and not into labels at all but I do have an idea of which bands would be ok, in his case the t-shirt needs to be black. Have a look through eBay lots of shops specifically for them.

Pipandmum · 05/12/2020 13:20

I'd never buy my 17 year old anything unless he specifically asked for it or was a brand I knew liked. I just bought a Ben Sherman shirt for my son as he mentioned when we passed the shop that he liked it (it was in the window). Otherwise it would just end up languishing in his closet.

Lovemusic33 · 05/12/2020 13:20

Oh, the one thing dd does like is underwear from ‘odd balls’, they do colourful boxer shorts and socks. Other than that she’s easily pleased with jeans and T-shirt’s.

Thanks! Will stick to some new band shirts. Much appreciated.

Would be appreciate DMs?

H and m and river island both really upto date trendy for teens including band tees.
Prices in h and m are brilliant and quality is great

Give him money and then he can buy yhe clothes that he likes. Boring but win win situation for both of you. Buy some designer socks and pants and then put some money in a gift envelope. He can buy more for his money in the boxing day sales.
