Recommendations for cheese hampers, North East

Can anyone recommend some good local cheese companies/shops whose hampers you’ve tried? I’m looking for a fairly small one, nothing too elaborate, but good cheeses and maybe a few nice accompaniments. Enough to feed 6 - 8 comfortably! Budget isn’t too restrictive but I don’t want to pay silly money...Also need to be able to order online and have it delivered.

TIA! Flowers Xmas Smile

www.cheeseandwineshop.co.uk/ The cheese from this shop is fab, just ordered my Christmas cheese today, I ordered a ‘secret santa’ for my dad for his birthday and he said it was lovely.

Is Yorkshire based and has the most gorgeous cheese ever. Lots of local makers too, so double local benefit.

These from Sedgefield are great!

I'd agree with The Courtyard Dairy too, lovely shop, but I'm not sure that they have any delivery slots left before Christmas.

Bridecilla · 04/12/2020 21:08

I second Northumberland Cheese Company. Great hampers- they're making our wedding 'cake'

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 06:20

Thank you everyone! We’ve just moved here so I don’t know my way around yet...although we have found a fantastic farm shop where we get all our meat and dairy!

I could go to the shops, it’s not essential to have it delivered, so I’ll have a nosy round your recommended ones and see what I find.

I know there’s also a good local producer near us so I might start there...

It’s a big place the Northeast 😉 but these cheeses are lovely and do delivery.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 06:38

Heh yes, but I figured I’d get recommendations of places I could access online, however I failed to take into account that a lot of places will probably be limited on delivery slots...

I’ll have a good look today. 😊

Not North East, but Mouse House Cheese Company in Lincoln deliver and their boxes are lovely. Smile

I always use pong cheese - not local, but excellent small producer cheeses on there.

Was just about to post this! I've tried a few of their cheeses and were all delicious. I buy them from The Juicy Pear

The Cheese Hamlet isn't in the north east (it's just outside Manchester) it is fantastic though.

@PoirotAndHisMoustache thank you for this reccomenation. Good prices - just ordered a small camebert gift for a friend who has had a baby.

I've ordered from Northumberland Cheese Company as an Xmas gift for someone else this year too - can't say if the cheese is nice or not but thought it was good value too.

TheCrow · 09/12/2020 16:28

@Delilah1234 I live in the same town at the cheese and wine shop so hello if you're local too 🙂 waves

Delilah1234 · 09/12/2020 17:15

@TheCrow I am 👋 to you

Sew3stitch · 09/12/2020 22:18

Came on to say Parlour Made and see others have already recommended. All cheeses made from milk from their own dairy herd so a small family business and their cheeses are delicious! The Isle is my favourite.

clareykb · 09/12/2020 22:21

Turners in Low Fell is a fantastic Indie Cheese shop..it is conveniently next to the wine shop.

loobylou44 · 10/12/2020 09:33

Blacks corner in Boldon, South Tyneside does amazing cheese and charcuterie. They have a lot of different options. If you're local then they are well worth a visit.
