Looking for a Christmas candle to add to a gift bag.

Nice smelling, Christmassy and budget of up to £10.

What are your favourites? Also please feel free to recommend dead expensive ones that I will buy myself Wink

P.s. Forgot to mention other criteria.

Nice smelling, Christmassy, £10 but looks like I spent a fortune.

I like the Lily Flame Christmas candles - there are loads of different ones (Snow Fall’s my favourite but Merry Christmas might suit what you’re doing better) 🙂

A bit of a brag but I got a Heals Pine and Frankincense candle in the charity shop yesterday for £4, RRP £18 and it is bloody lovely. I haven't even lit it yet and it has stunk out my bedroom with its lovely frankincensey smell.

abstractzebra · 03/12/2020 15:21

I'd have a rummage in TK Maxx.
They had about a million yesterday and some were really nice. Also £10 on a candle in there is a decent amount!

WhatAreWordsWorth · 03/12/2020 15:35

Home Bargains do some nice and very cheap Christmas candles.

If you want to splurge, I love the White Company winter candle. And I know MN historically dislikes Yankee but I’m VERY partial to their Christmas Eve one.

TheSilentStars · 03/12/2020 15:38

Yankee Christmas ones are bloody lovely.
Reading on here I'll drop down dead because they're so toxic and foul I bought some St Eval ones.
After a couple of hours burning over two days DD is blowing thick black mucus out of her nose and my house is covered in soot.

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 03/12/2020 15:39

TK Maxx usually have lovely candles that look a lot more £££ than they are.

And for you... Diptyque Feu du Bois is my fave xmas candle.

Inspiritus

MegsSmeg · 03/12/2020 16:34

I agree with the Lily Flame recommendation. I love Festive Cheer. They are usually about £9.

SarBear1980 · 03/12/2020 16:37

The M&S Frankincense ones are lovely for a cheap one...the Neom Calm Christmas one is not a bargain but the most amazing smell!! I love Neom ones usually anyway but this is a total winner. Both cruelty free abs essential for me.

EvelynSalt · 03/12/2020 16:38

White Company Fireside - not strictly Christmassy but very cosy.

Atelier Winter Fir - does what it says on the tin (or jar) whilst not smelling like a car air freshener!

EvelynSalt · 03/12/2020 16:39

And I totally missed the budget brief, sorry! Those are probably ones you'd want to keep OP

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/12/2020 16:44

I’ve always really liked the M&S Mandarin, Clove and Cinnamon one. Smells lovely and Christmassy, and not expensive.

GingerbreadTinselpears · 03/12/2020 17:10

Where can I buy Lily Flame ones?

OP posts:
GingerbreadTinselpears · 03/12/2020 17:10

I saw the M&S one yesterday and it had 20% off. I should have bought them.

Tbf I did have a yankee candle once where I did have soot in my nose from it, worth it for the scent though

I prefer woodwick ones these days

Going to have a rummage in TK Maxx Monday lunchtime and buy 4 or 5 to put in my xmas cupboard

WildCherryBlossom · 03/12/2020 19:50

St Eval Inspiritus or Orange & Cinnamon.

Inspiritus is just amazing. I've given it to so many people as Christmas gifts.

pandora206 · 03/12/2020 21:32

I've just received an order of Christmassy fragranced candles from Serenity by Jen, a seller on Etsy. They all smell amazing. I'm currently burning the sandalwood and it is very natural, fragrant but not overpowering perhaps because they are soy.
Fragrances I ordered were: Apple Cinnamon, White Chocolate, Cranberry Orange, Pine Tree, Turkish Delight, Coconut, Marzipan, Caramel Latte, Pink Prosecco, Mojito, Mango Daiquiri and Sandalwood.
(votive size mainly - £1.90 - with three small jars - £5 each). I bought some for presents but may hang onto them.

UndertheCedartree · 03/12/2020 21:44

I love M&S Frankincense and White Company Winter. Also got a Yankee candle called Christmas eve punch I think which is lovely. For a real cheapie the Air wick spiced apple is nice.

41weekswithno2 · 03/12/2020 21:51

I've completely gone off Yankee candles, they're so sooty these days.

Shearers candles are nice. They do a frankincense and myrrh one.

Tbh though unless the person is opening the gift before Christmas I maybe wouldn't get something overly Christmassy. All of my Christmas candles are either used or put away around 3rd January. They come out at the start of December.

HelebethH · 06/12/2020 13:04

RHS do some nice ones

QueenPaws · 06/12/2020 13:10

These are beautiful, half light and last light are the most traditional Christmas ones

£10 will get you a small jar one
