Any suggestions?
His favourites at the minute are a squash and a squeeze, the tiger who came to tea and the gruffalo. Haven't got any other Julia Donaldson ones
Thanks

You Choose has been very well loved in our house. DD also likes Julia Donaldson - Cave Baby is her current favourite. I’ve bought the Jolly Christmas Postman this year.

reefedsail · 01/12/2020 19:31

First Thousand Words. Every kid needs this:

Here

LassoOfTruth · 01/12/2020 19:40

My DD same age loves Zog, Highway Rat, the jolly postman - can’t go wrong with Julia Donaldson, Jill Murphy or Judith Kerr, all classics. She is also obsessed with a newer one called Mabel and the Mountain by Kim Hillyard, it’s very cute.

SteakBake4Me · 01/12/2020 19:44

There’s a few You Chooses now, the original, a space one, and a new fairytales one! They’re all ace.

We also like:

  • Mr Magnolia
  • Peck Peck Peck
  • Mr. Big
  • Happy Families books
  • That Pesky Rat
  • Ellie’s Magic Wellies
  • I’m The Best
  • Duck in the Truck

Hairy Maclary From Donaldson’s Dairy

hiredandsqueak · 01/12/2020 19:56

Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back were favourites and I can still recite them some twenty five years later.

Fleetwoodmacs · 01/12/2020 19:59

The gruffalos child

cameocat · 01/12/2020 20:22

I was going to say Hairy Maclarey too
No matter what by Debbi gliori (I think)

MrsPnut · 01/12/2020 20:29

We’re all going on a bear hunt, and look for Michael Rosen reading it on YouTube. m.youtube.com/watch?v=0gyI6ykDwds

Hairy McLary series by Lynley Dodd.
Harry and his Bucketful of Dinosaurs series.

The Usborne Look Inside books are lovely. They have lots of things to spot and talk about. They do loads of different ones. At that age my little boy like the Building Site one.

amadeus1 · 01/12/2020 21:53

I like the "this is not my...."

My list is long sorry, but I just want to counter the Julia Donaldson fan club that these threads always turn into. Don't get me wrong, we own a lot of the JD ones but everyone already knows about them. Here's some that my kids really love and importantly are really fun to read.

Mopoke, Philip Bunting
All Shirley Hughes
The High Street, Alice Melvin
The Cozy Book, Mary Ann Hoberman (out of print but easy to get second hand and truly amazing)
Countablock (also Cityblock, Alphablock etc)
Any Richard Scarry
The Seven Silly Eaters, Mary Ann Hoberman
ALL the Lynley Dodd collection
Old Bear/Jane Hissey
Usborne Look Inside/Peep inside
Peck Peck Peck, Lucy Cousins
Lots by the Ahlbergs, Each Peach Pear Plum, Funnybones, Bye Bye Baby, Burglar Bill etc
Love You Forever, Robert Munsch
100 Dogs and 100 Cats
Mog the Cat treasury
Anything by Katherina Manolessou, beautiful illustrations
Anything illustrated by Marla Frazee
Please, Baby, Please, Spike Lee
10 Little Rubber Ducks by Eric Carle or any others than just the Hungry Caterpillar
Sam Usher seasons books
The Storm Whale and others by Benji Davies
Chu's day at the beach, Neil Gaiman
The Secret of Black Rock
Lights on Cotton Rock

22WR · 02/12/2020 12:37
