Outdoor lights for around door

My DH is being a bah humbug and saying we cant do it as will wreck door. So best lights to put around door and is there a way to attach them the the brick surround and not the door itself.

If you google ‘brick clip fasteners’. You should find what you need, they grip the brick where it sticks out a tiny bit beyond the mortar. No hammering or screwing involved.
