Is this about right for dad and new partner who I don't know well?

They always get me something nice.

My dad is a widower and he has a new live in partner, who I've met, but don't really know.

I don't want to get him something bigger and her little token things, as I get the feeling she does most of the shopping when she and my dad buy me things - it's gone from a gift voucher every year, to quite thoughtful things since she's been living with him! But, at the same time, I am somewhat limited re budget.

So this is what I'm thinking:

Dad

  • molton brown gift set
  • hardback history book
  • paperback other non fiction type book, which I know he will like
  • bottle of alcohol free spirits (he's happily teetotal)

His dp

  • clarins gift set
  • chanel nail polish (in a subtle, inoffensive colour)
  • nice calendar

Lovely gifts, I would be thrilled to receive those gifts from DSS

Ah thank you! And do you think it looks about even?

Those gifts sound wonderful. I'm sure she'll love them, I know I would

PullTheBricksDown · 29/11/2020 11:24

Those sound nice choices. The other option is to get them couple gifts, e.g. food or house things they'd both like, but that may not work for you.

I'd say it's even, you could always buy a box of chocolates (a tub of celebrations or the like are £4) to add to her pile.

icelollycraving · 29/11/2020 11:27

That sounds very generous! Smile

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/11/2020 11:29

Sounds lovely for both. Agree you could add some joint chocs if you would like - always nice at Christmas

SylvieSangFroid · 29/11/2020 11:37

Yeah, I might get some chocolates to add then. Might even it up a little, even just in terms of how it looks when piled up iyswim.

Thanks so much everyone Flowers.
