Ebay...do you know if I'm allowed to advertise for pick up only at the moment?

I have some decent items to sell that are big. I'd prefer pick up.

If you are doing pick up make sure it is cash on delivery.

There were no restrictions (on eBay) during the first lockdown so I would imagine it'd be ok.
Also, eBay have a new system for payment of collection only items. They give the buyer a code to give to the seller on collection to prove it's been received so the buyer can pay by PayPal beforehand.

Do you mind me asking why?

I've just sold a few biggish items collection only and pay by Paypal. I didn't realise that was wrong!

The local FB buy/sell pages have information about safe drop off/pick up so the law will be allowing it, and if Ebay allows you to list it you're fine.
I was sending an ebay parcel in the PO the day before this lockdown and the grumpy counter assistant (there is a nice one) was moaning that he didn't want to accept Ebay parcels during lockdown and he hoped the PO would say he didn't have to as they weren't essential... you try telling that to my children who are growing out of their clothes left, right and centre.

I think it’s because scammers have paid via PayPal then collected the item, then claimed to have never received it so made a PayPal claim to get a refund from the seller

Bottl · 25/11/2020 14:55

The PayPal/item collected scam is no longer the issue it once was as eBay have introduced a new system to avoid this.

Thanks everyone.

It's actually dh's telescopes he's selling. Nothing wrong with them at all he's just decided to get a smaller one. Should sell well as more or less new?

Of course it’s fine, people are still selling things on my local fb pages
