Best service for sending parcels overseas

I want to send a parcel to family in Portugal. I usually just go to the Post Office but have just done a quick online quote via Parcel Force and it's £40! I'm sending the same kind of weight that I always do (approx 4kg) but that seems like a huge price hike since last year?
Anyway, who do you use/who would you recommend?

Go online to the UK UPS website, you can send a quick shipment, no need to sign up/ faff and the prices/transit time is brilliant. You have to wrap your parcel and enter dimensions/total weight and they give you a quote. And, if you print the labels at home they come to your door the next day to collect. No need to leave the house. Highly recommend. I’d imagine transit time to Portugal would be 4-5 days and prob much cheaper than parcelforce.

I use parceltogo, it's a comparison site so gives you choice of different couriers, services and prices (I don't always go for cheapest, as I take into account convenience of drop off points etc).
4kg is quite heavy though... I find that 2kg is generally the cut off point between reasonable and expensive!

The last parcel I sent to family in Spain was almost 7kg and cost £25, it took 5 days, but that was over a weekend.

I just ordered 6kg from UK to southern Italy for £11. Being picked up tomorrow. Been using them for years, price comparison, I just go for the cheapest.

Thanks all. I decided to go with UPS. Total charge was £24 - I overestimated the weight slightly as don't want my DSis to have to pay any excess charges. Paid & collected same day - today - and will be at my sister's house by Monday . Thanks again!
