because, I have bought her a doll's Graco complete set which includes high chair, pram, travel cot.

LOL she only asked for a blooming high chair for xmas but I saw a this bargain set and got it. oh and of course lots of other bits too.

I am only tentativley thinking about going away.

We went last year, but they were 5,7,9 at the time. I said FC would bring them a small token, which he did - v. small things - and we'd have the rest when we got back. We were going to a Muslim country though, so I said 'they don't celebrate Christmas.'

I'm hard aren't I? They took it well though.

Interesting thing was that they played with the stupid little things - like one monkey, one set of top trumps - and were perfectly happy. I rather regretted all the kit back home under the tree.

poofter

handlemecarefully · 18/10/2007 22:51

Took 3 or 4 smallish things to open on the day and had other presents when we got home a few days later. They were absolutely fine with this (they were 4 and 2 at the time)

Katymac · 18/10/2007 22:51

FC leaves them at Nana's house cos he knows we go away

HUNXXXX · 18/10/2007 22:52

Go to Spain - they don't get their gifts till the 6th of January, the '3 kings' (wise men) bring them.

ahundredtimes · 18/10/2007 22:53

lol @ chippy.

HUNXXXX · 18/10/2007 22:54

or if oyu spend the hwole week in a circumnavigation of the globe maybe oyu can fix it so you miss the WHOEL day

pirategirl · 18/10/2007 22:59

lol, would be nice in a way to miss the whole lot.

I dunno, i am umming and arring ( in a devon way). My mum lives in spain. They have bought a new house and rather than come home for xmas she wants to have it there, despite the fact that it wil just beher and her dh. I know she's sad not to be seeing us again this year, me and dd5, but is so like, 'but its our new house'. Anyway, i really thought they would be home this yr, as they weren't last yr and last yr she said they would def come home, but her dh has a rather lare say inthe matter as far as i can tell.

So was just thinking about it, but looking at the flights it would cost them far less for them to come here than for me to go there. And i know who has more money.!!

I am lucky inthat my sister is in uk this yr, so she could come round, maybe it will be ok.

if she wants you to come and hasnt been over herself for a couple of years she should treat you to the flights.

nappyaddict · 18/10/2007 23:04

FC delivers them to your house cos he knows you can't bring them all back on the plane.

mintydixcharrington · 18/10/2007 23:06

we are going away this xmas, we have discussed that it is quite likely that he will deliver presents to home because he knows that we won't be ablet o get them home on the plane. But we are Quite Sure that stockings will follow them to wherever they happen to be....

pirategirl · 18/10/2007 23:08

shitemum, that would involve having to ask her dh, who has control of the purse i am afraid!!

god i wish they'd never got back together. ok, i think i am going to stay home, as this year, even tho it seems like a good idea, wel, i am thinking more and more, it would be cosy to be home.

Maybe I need to think of soemthing more interesting to do xmas day, like go round friends, or invite up afte lunch , sort of buck the trend a bit. Xmas is very different since dh left, so we need to put our mark on it.

Last year a fiend invited us round for lunch, and it was great. very markedly different, but cos friend has a dd too, we made a good day for them. We wont be able to do that this year, but maybe can visit for an hour later??

we are away at christmas this year - will do socks for the children, and leave bigger things at home for when we return. all will be explained in a letter that santa sends to them of course before we go
