What are your favourite Christmas treats and from what shop, if applicable?

I really like the Baklava and Luxury Stollen from Lidl. I'm contemplating the M&S triple chocolate panettone this year but not had it before.

@Sniv - love nut roast...I pretty much only have it at Christmas so look forward to it all year! Crispy and squidgy - exactly right!

@SymphonyofShadows - those cherries sound so nice! I'll have to keep a lookout.

Aldi mulled wine and a tub of twiglets

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 23/11/2020 14:21

Dark chocolate covered cranberries.
Cherry panettone (£££ but worth it).
Scottish cheese selection with handmade crackers, fruit cake and quince jelly.
Spiced ginger dark hot chocolate.

GeidiPrimes · 23/11/2020 14:29

I'm a right fiend for christmas pudding and all the flavoured (brandy etc) creams/butter. I ate half a family sized one last night, Waitrose No1 I think.

Fichi al rhum must be the best xmas food though. Figs and walnuts all smashed together with rum, then covered in chocolate.

CatMuffin · 23/11/2020 16:05

If i have leftover Christmas pudding i pour brandy on it again and flame it, then add brandy cream. Yum
I like Gianduiotto chocolates. Usually from Marks, but will look in Waitrose as can't get to a marks during lockdown.
Also got the Thorntons Christmas selection half price in Tesco and ordered the attached filled liquorice from Amazon

I think Marks are good for Christmas sweets generally

Alicatz66 · 23/11/2020 17:51

jocktamsonsbairn · 23/11/2020 20:03

@thelegohooverer

Aldi florentines for me.
And me! I've eaten 5 boxes already and none of them were meant for me!!!
guffaux · 23/11/2020 20:14

annas ginger thins or spekulatious (sp?) biscuits with pear brandy and good coffee mmmm - have this every day off throughout advent and Christmas-

havent seen spekulatious biscuits this year (yet) so have ordered spiced almond biscuits from sainbury's to test this week

ilovebagpuss · 23/11/2020 20:53

I actually buy myself a box of Lindor mixed chocs and wrap them up so I can go “oh lovely from Santa” no one bats an eyelid and I get to scoff them all greedily with a new book. I get them for sharing gas well but those are mine !!!
Also love the cheese fest especially drink Camembert.

ilovebagpuss · 23/11/2020 20:54

Oh god I don’t drink the Camembert it was stinky Camembert

Shwighty1 · 23/11/2020 23:20

We just discovered a Eastern European supermarket near us and it has the most incredible range of sweets, think leberkuchen but better, speculoos but different and so much choice. It’s definitely getting visited pre Xmas!

ActionsLike · 24/11/2020 09:01

ilovebagpuss the chocolates idea has me in hysterics! Everyone should do that - love it

ilovebagpuss · 25/11/2020 12:48

@ActionsLike definitely! I seemed to have a few years when no one bought me any chocs so this means I always get at least one box of my choice.

UndertheCedartree · 25/11/2020 19:25

@Thedarknightsaredrawingin - where do you get the cherry pannetone from?

toomuchfaster · 25/11/2020 19:40

I love Turkish Delight thins, but haven't found any yet this year. Usually get them in The Range so hopefully I can get some next month. Ditto rum truffles.

InTheCludgie · 25/11/2020 20:08

toomuchfaster I saw some in my local Range the other week so hopefully they will be stocking them in all their stores. Rum truffles, not had them in years but love them too!

MintyCedric · 27/11/2020 22:56

Haven't tried it yet but looking forward to cracking up the dark chocolate coated honeycomb I've bought from Sainsburys.

Another Tesco one...they're currently doing 'Finest' crinkle cut crisps in roast beef and horseradish flavour...they are amazing.

Elephanttrunk · 08/12/2020 19:27

Today I discovered Thomas Fudge’s Salted Caramel Florentine’s ... they are divine! So much so that I’ve hidden them in my work bag Grin

doodlejump1980 · 08/12/2020 21:42

It has to be the M&S cranberry and Brie filo parcels. Delicious
