Zoom Christmas Ideas

We have decided to spend Christmas in our own houses this year as my mum and dad are vulnerable so I am thinking of a few ideas we could do on zoom with both sets of grandparents on Christmas Day. So far I have bought them a Lego bauble each and am going to send it to them with the idea that we get them both to open them at the same time and have a race to see who can assemble theirs first.

Any ideas of board games which would work over zoom?

The easiest game over Zoom is bingo imo - you could send boards beforehand and one person can pick - you could theme it for Christmas, or family jokes, or something easier like pictures if your dc are young.

You can play uno if you have a deck at each house and show the card you're playing to the screen. The only difference is that obviously you can only pick up the cards at your own house!

Quizzes? Scavenger hunts?

Great idea OP. How about a Draw With Rob? All draw together then vote on the best one!

Outsmarted is a new board game that works via FaceTime according to the advertising. We’ve bought one for my parents, and booked a time slot with my brothers in the US to all play.

Beetle would work over zoom. So would charades? But don’t plan too much. It might be better to have two or three shorter link ups and each set of grandparents might like some private time with you.

Over the last lockdown we got the board game "who dares wins", from the tv show, essentially you act as hosts and then people bid to say how many of that category they could name. I was surprised how competitive it got, but it was really good fun. It was a game my parents enjoyed as you didn't have to do much. But we adapted the rules, so if you didn't complete the list, the other team got the points. I think that helped.
