Where do you buy toys when Amazon is too expensive?

I bought some fakes on eBay so that's a no go. Where else can I buy from as on Amazon the things I'm after are 3 x times the normal price. Plus they are not sold by amazon so could still be China fakes 😕

I can only think of Argos ?

The Entertainer or Smyths Toys! Much better selection and better prices than Amazon.

thelegohooverer · 20/11/2020 17:35

Smyths.

What kind of things specifically? Sometimes there are specialist stores, eg the Lego store, or Our Generation site. TK Maxx can be good too if you’re browsing rather than searching for something specific.

B and M sometimes have toys much cheaper than other places, 2 for £20 or suchlike

JaffaJaffJaffpussycatpuss · 20/11/2020 17:39

Home bargains. Maybe facebook selling sites

Whatsnewpussyhat · 20/11/2020 17:40

Depends what toys you want. I find Amazon is only expensive when something is discontinued or the scalpers taking the piss selling things they buy from home bargains for stupid prices.

rainonarainyday · 20/11/2020 17:42

Minecraft figures. I don't think I'll be getting any at this rate. I think the ones on Argos aren't the right thing, then seem to be dungeon version ? I'm not too knowledgeable about it all, but a zombie was mentioned on DS' Christmas list 🧟‍♂️

Google has been my friend when looking for difficult to find items. My DS is into Pokémon but wants the older figures. When scrolling down the shopping options for my search I often come across little independent shops who have the item I am looking for. Or “geek” type shops which have them as a game tie in rather than a toy.

StormyInTheNorth · 20/11/2020 17:46

I've found some 'bigger' brand toys are often way overpriced on amazon rather than Smyths. Amazon is good for unbranded or small brands.

Shufflebumnessie · 20/11/2020 17:50

If you have Facebook, and don't mind second hand, have a look on local selling sites and Marketplace?
I've seen quite a few Minecraft figure sets pop up on ones local to me, but they do sell quickly.
Also, I find our local Smyths often has more variety that online. Our local one had packs of Minecraft figures.
Other places you could try Next, Debenhams and supermarkets.

Shufflebumnessie · 20/11/2020 17:56

Smyths

rainonarainyday · 20/11/2020 18:06

@Shufflebumnessie thank you so much I've ordered a set.. I couldn't see this on my search, so very grateful. Plus these won't take up loads of space and he'll have a few different ones, so hopefully he likes it.

@rainonarainyday you're very welcome, pleased I could help. Fingers crossed your DS likes it, I've got a Minecraft fan too!

Another vote for fb market place. Our local York sites have a few mine craft figures etc listed - maybe ask people if they’ll post for you
