Hairbrush. Wrapped and waiting in DD's stocking.

And I've just realised she's got extremely tight curled hair, that we have specific routine for and have never brushed in her life. Hmm Grin

Anyone ever brought gifts impulsively and realised they're not quite the good idea you thought?
We'll be brushing dollies hair Christmas morning!

Just gave dd2 a little manicure set for her birthday (not the main present obviously!) as she loves doing her nails.

She sheepishly reminded me that I put one in lats year's Christmas stocking for the same reaosn. It is somewhere in her room.....

Awww Xmas Grin

When my DD was in Yr 6 they had an End of Term Disco to say farewell.
I bought her a pale pink lacey dress (she seemed to like it at the time) but on the night came thundering downstairs like an elephant with a hangover ,

I sussed she didn;t actually like the dress and said "Ok , go an change if you want"

So cue denim shorts, glitter flip flops and a sparkly top which was all her friends were wearing and she didn't want to be different .

She had a great time - the dress went to a new home . ( In my defence , it was £5 )

Oh bless I remember being that age and not wanting to stand out at all! The pink lacy dress sounds lovely

I ordered some lavender bubble bath for my lovely MIL, because she loves lavender. Then a few minutes later I remembered that they replaced their bathtub with a shower a year or so ago! She struggles with mobility and wouldn't take a bath at our house either.

I was able to cancel the order...

Dd has just announced that she only wants 2 presents, both books and she absolutely doesn't want anything else. Shock I have already bought more than 2!

MermaidBrush · 20/11/2020 15:44

Lol at the lavender bubble bath Grin
@Sometimesonly aww I'm sure she'll appreciate it on the day!

How old is she? I bet she will change her mind on christmas morning when everyone has 10 presents and she only has 2.
Sometimesonly · 20/11/2020 16:54

She's 10 and she just had a big clear out and says she doesn't want any stuff in her life!

My MIL loves to give toiletries gift sets and stocks up in 3 for 2 sales. She often doesn't really look at the products in them, just the brand. One year she gifted a man a men's shampoo, conditioner and hair gel gift set from a well known brand - all good except the man in question had recently lost all his hair and was being tested for alopecia. Thankfully he saw the funny side and she made up for it after Christmas with a big bottle of whiskey!

how old is your daughter, if she is young enough to have dolls or soft toys it could be for their hair.

maybe you could get her a styling head?

Bungle2 · 21/11/2020 08:55

@Sometimesonly can she move in with me? I don’t want any “stuff” in my life either...and yet it keeps arriving 🤣🤣🤣
