Outside tape for outdoor lights?

10 replies

ilovelibraries · 19/11/2020 13:00

I have a small net of lights that I want to put up on my fence (1.5m x 1.5m).

I only want them up temporarily so don’t want to use nails.

What can I use to put them up with? I feel I should know, but I’m guessing tape won’t stick.

Thanks in advance.

Cable ties?

Command do hooks for outdoors. I’ve not used them but love the indoor ones.

@runwithme sorry, I should have said, they’re smaller than the fence, so it’s just like a panel.

I used sellotape yesterday but, unsurprisingly, most of it came off overnight.

I should add, I have googled outdoor waterproof tape and it all seems heavy duty stuff.

What type of fence is it? Wood, metal, solid, has gaps?

ilovelibraries · 19/11/2020 13:16

@inappropriateraspberry it’s wood. Sorry Blush

Tricky then, the only thing really are nails or the little plastic staple/clip things for holding wires down on walls. It's really hard to get stuff to stick on wood without it being permanent i.e. glue or nails.

But you can easily pull the nails out after Xmas. Would picture hanging ok s work? Smaller and less obvious.

@inappropriateraspberry possibly. My husband didn’t want me to use nails (we rent and are moving just after Christmas and they’re new fence panels).

I was hoping there was some special waterproof (but not too fast sticking!) tape.
