Small gift idea for teenage boy

I’m really struggling with what to get for my friend’s son he’s 14. Budget around £20 can stretch it a bit if needs be to get him something he’d like. Was thinking possibly a hoodie but have no clue what brands teenage boys wear. Help please!

Sports brands like Nike etc are more timeless, DS liked Jack Wills too.

From that age aftershave and cash were most popular too!

A Nike T-shirt? Or a Jack Wills/Superdry T-Shirt?

JaJaDingDong · 17/11/2020 10:22

A voucher for the Apple store
Aftershave
Some credits for an online game he plays

TBH I wouldn't buy a teenage boy clothing, without in put from him or a very close friend. The in thing changes so frequently, you'll be lucky to buy him something he'll actually be prepared to wear in front of his mates!

You're not going to get a hoody for £20. Give him cash!

Amazon vouchers always go down well with my 14 year old.

jaffacakes16 · 17/11/2020 12:17

Am I being stupid, couldnt see a Jack Wills kids section on their website. Do they wear adult sizes at that age?

Amazon voucher good call too, generally not a fan of vouchers in case places go bust but that’s not gonna happen with Amazon!

I’d stump up more for a hoodie, don’t mind spending more on something decent just don’t like spending lots on tat!

A charging mat for iPhone? Works with Samsung etc too. They can never have enough even if he’s already got one

In terms of hoodies I’d stay clear from Jack Wills and Superdry as either cool or very uncool. Sports brands all good - under armour, Nike, Adidas plus north face. Otherwise Abercrombie ones are cool.

I think you be looking at around £45 for a mans size hoodie in a brand a teen boy would wear.

Best off with cash.

WaltzForDebbie · 17/11/2020 12:27

My nearly 13 year old is in small man's clothes. My 15 year old wear medium man's tops. Depends how big they are really?

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 17/11/2020 12:36

small tech accessory?
Power bank
earphones
stylus keyring
Interesting USB stick

jaffacakes16 · 17/11/2020 12:43

Thank you all for responses. Sounds like it’s a total minefield so I’ll stick with cash/voucher!

I think giving cash is perfect for their age even if it doesn’t feel like you’ve put in much effort. They will appreciate it.
