Little People! We started the collection when DD2 turned 1 (she is 2 next week) and she loves the stuff.

Also, wooden puzzles - the lift in and out ones.

Ohhhh, and chunky lego type bricks... hours of fun.

Will admit though, her favourite things to play with are plastic cups/bowls/plates etc from the kitchen cupboards! We have a plastic tea set (ELC) at my dads house, and she plays with it for hours.

my dd is almost 4 and if had time again I would buy
more bath time toys
more non messy crafty things like aquadraw (which is fab)
musical instruments

thats what have been longstanding well used toys

My ds who's nearly 14 months loves cars but also the usual remote controls, phones and other household things he really shouldnt have

My friend bought her dd some stacking cups yesterday for £3 from Mothercare and I can honestly say I have never seen a child as happy and intrigued in my life!

My DS (15 months) has far too many toys and just jumps from one to the other - rarely playing on one for longer than 10 minutes (our fault I guess for having so many).

But the ones he does seem to particularly like are stacking cups, a musical animal train that we bought him at 6 months old but he still loves, and books.....we have a huge pile of childrens books under the coffee table which he helps himself to and he will sit and 'read' them for ages (or bring them over to either me or DH to read to him). Tbh this keeps him occupied for most of the day (although me and DH are tearing our hair out after the 10th time we have read Dear Zoo to him in one day!)
