looking for ideas. Have several to go for in different jobs/groups, and don't know the recipient yet

National book token.
I would be tricky to buy for as a secret santa. Just avoid alcohol.

Its often hard to think what I do want, to me the point of a gift is the thought and effort put in to find me something I wouldnt buy myself (and for £10 if I know I want it I would just buy it myself so really it needs to be something I'm unaware of and thus havent bought myself).

what I dont ever want which is much easier list:

  1. A gift voucher/card (basically says I was too lazy to do the task so do it yourself and its always to somewhere impractical and useless like Waitrose or John Lewis)

  2. Cremes and bath stuff, as like many I have had allergies before and I can be scent sensative

  3. Anything 'luxuary' its utterly wasted on me, I am a proud 'cheap' person lol brand names and more expensive 'fancy' items are non apprieciated by me.

  4. Wine, Champagne or Gin, 'stereotypically female' alcohol people buy women (but I drink Scotch, Burbon, Dark Rum, Vodka or Cider which would be ok).

  5. Plants - I already have 2 children and 2 pets to keep alive I dont want anymore (what happened to the rule about NEVER buying a person a living thing)

Alcohol and nice choc are safe bets in my opinion, they can be refitted easily if the person doesn't like them
They can do the rounds until they reach an appreciate and dont end up in landfill

Personally I'd love the jar of Percy pigs in M&S.
I'd also love some gloves or luxury boot socks.
I love candles too - something Christmassy.

I really don't want any alcohol. I don't advertise the fact I've had issues with alcohol in the past so most people won't know - but I really don't want any.

Mug, wristwarmers, candle, fluffy socks.

I disagree. I was gifted a bottle of red wine. It had a cork. I am allergic to alcohol. I don't have a corkscrew and I wasn't going to get one just to tip the wine down the sink.

Nobody I know likes red wine. I can't open the thing and tip it away so I can recycle the bottle. It's in my shed where it has been for 18mths.

I think alcohol is one of the worst choices for someone you don't know. People who drink just buy what they enjoy.

I agree. So many people insist on buying prosecco as a gift. I don't like prosecco, or red wine come to that. I also DETEST gin.

Give me a nice little bottle of a really dry white wine any day but that's not the in thing apparently.
